You guys act as though no other car in history other than 2G DSMs has ever walked a crank.
Pretty much any car can have premature thrust bearing wear, it was just a gnarly epidemic in the early 2Gs. There have been six-bolts that walked cranks too.
The problem isn't just isolated within Mitsubishis either. Remember the 1999 Miatas?
Just because one Evo may have walked a crank doesn't mean OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!
And Magnus's theory is just that--a theory. No one has ever been able to prove what caused the 2G epidemic, nor will anyone ever be able to prove it; cracking open engines and staring at oil squirters isn't going to help you. Don't fear crankwalk--just enjoy your damn cars.
