Downpipe rubbing transfer case?

Well I have had my TurboXS downpipe on for about a month now. And it was fine. Except I went under my car last nite to install my exhaust and I saw that the downpipe was rubbing against my transfer case (stupid larger 05). Anyways I took down my downpipe and noticed it has rubbed a groove into the transfer case right into the metal. My question is should I be worried for some major damage or is it ok to have a lil groove in my transfer case. It hasnt penetrated completely through the metal in any way. Thanks all for help.

It should be ok on my 2003 then. I know somebody with the Tanabe downpipe on his MR. It's a 2.74 diameter pipe and it fits perfectly.

if you plan on running 3" downpipes on 05+ GSR, or MR. You will have this issue.

Thats why most JDM dps are either 2.5" or 2.75".

Yea it sucks. I was just wondering if it is dangerous though to the point where I should remove it. Oh and also Cal thanks for the kartboy hangers installed it and helped tighted everything up.

Tryed to install a dp tonight. cleared the transfer case, however; was
right on the oilpan and didn't seem like it would have sealed properly
on the O2 housing.

BTW... It was a logic performance cheapy from one of the vendors on here.

WORKS make some nice 70mm dp's... for close to $600.00

I have the JIC DP for the 05....no clearance issues at all. Some people have talked s hit to me for buying that pipe. But it fits perfect because it was made for the 05 well almost perfect...lower tie bars dont clear

for you 05+ MR, RS, and GSR guys, We carry Tannabe 70mm SS downpipes at a very good price. These downpipes made decent HP on our shop evos. I highly recommend these.

RS-R also offers 80mm cat-delete downpipes, altho it sits very close to transfer case, but with Kartboy downpipe bushings, it fits nicely.

All above mentioned downpipes will clear factory lower tie-bars and Cusco ver1 and ver2 LAB.

Thanks

Cal

Thanks guys. Appreciate everybody offering all these downpipe advices of which ones to buy. But my original question was if the groove in my transfer case would be an issue.

take a hammer and beat on the place where they touch. that little indentation will have no significant effect on flow.
