Yeah, and in 4th does the mph increase with rpms? Or do the RPMs rise a lot faster than the mph? I'm pretty sure that test will work in either 5 or 6 speed. Second, are you sure you're redlining? and Third, are you sure they weren't talking about a car with the higher rpm redline? And fourth, now that I've thought about it, I'm almost positive you're a 6 speed, cuz I can hit around 120 in 4th in my car... but then that doesn't help much.

The information you gave us is not useful. By redline, I guess you mean 7k...but the actual redline is 7600 rpm. If you have an MR w/6spd, then 4th gear at 7000 isn't a big deal, because we max out at 110.5 at 7600rpm. If you're a 5spd, then that is weird, yes, but you need to test your clutch by doing this:

At 40mph, put it in 5th gear (or 6th) and floor it. When the boost starts to hit, if your car grabs and continues to build boost while pulling, then you're fine. If the rpms jump up as soon as boost hits, but you don't really move forward much...and then the rpms catch and drop back down, your clutch is slipping.

he didn't say redline, he said 7k rpms. im not sure what 4th is on a 5spd at 7k, but i know its about 122 at 7600.

i would venture to say this guy has a MR and nothing is wrong.....if you can't tell your rpms are rising and your car isn't going any faster...PLEASE sell your car to me for cheap cheap

He said...

my car only goes about 96mph when i redline 4th gear
Before that, he referred to Evos going 110 at 7k in 4th gear, so I was trying to verify that he meant 7k when he said "redline." Redline to me is where the stock rev limiter is, not where the stock tach turns red. So, if he's at 96mph at the rev limiter, then he has a problem. If he's at 96mph at 7k in 4th, then he probably has a 6spd, but he needs to provide that information and fill out his profile.

damn, i just looked at the first part where he said 7k.

but, in actuality, redlining our car technically is 7k...because that is the redline on the tack....

rev limit, however...is a different thing. we are on the same page here....

im digging if you can't tell....LOL

It's really easy to tell if your clutch is slipping. Just floor it and if the rpm needle goes up really quick but your car isnt pulling then its slipping. Also if you do this you might smell your clutch burning.

i have a SAFC2 with buschur settings..... i never really noticed this until i put in my buschur stage 2 and 3 parts..... maybe it's the new found power that's making it slip a little????

no more power shouldn't change the gear ratio.

nope, if your clutch was slipping, you would build a lot of boost fast....but the car wouldn't really go anywhere because it would be like you had the clutch pedal pressed in.

to tell if your clutch is slipping, punch it and watch the RPMs, if they go up fast, but the car doesn't accelerate fast then the RPMs drop back down, your clutch is slipping.
