From an earlier post in this discussion:
David, for purposes of clarification, I'm a little unclear as to exactly which configuration you're describing that had the big surge problem. Is this a 20G with unclipped Ti/Al wheel? Surely you're not talking about a regular 16G TME turbo (10.5cm hotside and Ti/Al wheel).

This car had the absolute worste surge I have ever felt in any car. Until around 5,000 rpm in any gear, if you started at low RPM the car would surge and buck violently. The turbo just spooled too damn fast. This was an unclipped TME. Spool up was crazy fast, too fast obviously from the amount of surge.
This is the first time I have experienced surging this bad with a "stock" style turbo. It makes the surging from the 20g-8 seem like a non-issue.

Turbo arrived today! Patiently waiting for the install kit....
Dave, what is the estimated time of arrival for the install kit?

Haha yeah I recieved mine yesterday...the packing job is unique lol. I tried tearing it open in excitement and it took a while to get the actual turbo out... hehe. I can't wait for the installation kits to arrive...I will post up dyno numbers ASAP after installation.

Installation kits are slowly rolling in. Should ship some, maybe all of them out this week.
BTW, DO NOT drive your cars hard with this new turbo until you have them re-tuned. The 20G is going to make them run TOO lean and you could damage the cars. A retune is NEEDED!
The horrible surging, worste I have ever seen, is with the TME 16G turbo, NOT a 20G.
BTW, my car made 348 whp on our dyno on Friday with the 20g-9 on straight 94 octane after a few more changes.

You the man! Can't wait until my install kit arrives.. it's going to be on like donkey kong.
Definately going to take it easy until I can meet Al and your dyno again I'll probably start running like 15psi just to see what the AFR's look like.
What was the tq on the 348 pull? You've probably already got a graph/post up about it.. I've been busy. Can't wait to bolt this beast on.. should be a huge improvement over my 9.8 03 turbo

I'm installing one of your 20G's with the 10.5 hot side this week, how much more fuel should I add with the SAFC II to start with, ballpark? I have a custom Dyno Flash with alky kit, cams, intake, and exhaust. Just tuned by Al, all that's new is the turbo. Yes I will be logging with a wide band.

You will need to add about 15% to get started. You may end up backing some out or adding some more but I am guessing 15% will get you close.
The dyno graphs for the 20g-9 on 94 octane are posted in the header testing thread I did.
I don't think I posted the very last one graphs I did. The last two tests I did were with the full race header and ebay 02 housing and our ported manifold and the ebay 02 housing.
The Full Race header and ebay 02 housing the car made 345.2 whp and 341.1 ft lbs.
Our ported manifold and the ebay 02 housing the car made 343.7 whp and 340.5 ft lbs.
BTW, peak boost at anytime during the runs was 22.9 psi.

Damn that sounds nice! Next time Al's up there I'll be there. I really can't wait to see what the turbo will do on my car with 100 octane and around ~25psi. I run 100 75% of the time during to summer.. it's normally not much more than 93.
Now.. who will be the first to run your stroker motor with this 20g-9 setup? I think it would make one hell of a setup.

Yes I definitely want to start rich and work down from there. I’ll start adding about 15% fuel at about 3500 to red line and go from there. I have a dyno sheet from AMS done a few weeks ago with AFR that I’ll try to stay close to.
