For a great 90W GL-5 fluid check out this stuff:

Otherwise, if you can't get the OEM Mitsu fluid, Redline or Mobil 1 75W-90 fits the requirements.

For the person who told me to search, I have searched. That is the reason I am trying to find some kind of proven evidence on it trashing the rear diff/tf. I don't see why it should since it would meet all of the requirements. The only thing I read is "DIAQUEEN FTW!!!". That does nothing for me. I don't like fanboys who just follow along with others. If somebody has HARD PROOF that any other fluid that MEETS/EXCEDES the diaqueen has ruined a rear diff, please post it up. Not trying to start a pissing contest, just would like to see proof. Here is a link to what Mobil 1 says about it. Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w-90

Also, what about Castrol Hypoy C gear oil? Here is a link to their data sheet. I compared it side to side with Amsoil and it has better results. Castrol Hypoy C Data

Well, i went to the dealer and they did not have diaqueen. I went into the service department and started talking to the techs that work on all of the evos that came through there door. they pulled out a fluid application list that they printed off of the mitsu service website. They said there would be no problem running something other then the diaqueen. They said as long as the fluid is GL-5 and greater it should work just fine. Thay also said that there is no friction modifier needed in the rear, I asked 3 different people on that one because I did not believe it at first.
Mitsu service book for T case said:
4. Fill with hypoid gear oil API classification GL-5 SAE90 until
the level comes to the lower portion of filler plug hole.
Quantity: 0.55 dm3 (0.58 quart)
Note: it says nothing about diaqueen, it only specifies hypoid gear oil and GL-5 SAE90
for rear diff it said:
Hypoid gear oil API classification
GL-5 or higher
• Above −23°C(−10°F): SAE90,
85W-90, 80W-90
• −34 to −23°C(−30 to −10°F):
SAE80W, 80W-90
• Below −34°C(−30°F): SAE75W
Note: Again there is no mention of diaqueen, and this is straight out of a mitsu service manual. It dosan't even mention a friction modifier. I do recommend checking the bottle that your using to see if it is safe for use in limited slip applications, which the Mobil 1 is.
If you ask for my opinion. You need to take what you read on this and all forums with a grain of salt. Remember anyone can post what ever they want, which is great, but that does not mean that everyone that is posting knows what the hell there talking about. SO DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND ASK PROFESSIONALS IF YOUR NOT SURE!

This is what I'm trying to get across. Some people just don't know. Hell, I might as well try some MIL SPEC oil and see how that holds up. But anyways, I'm going to continue to research different brands of oils and their properties to see if they meet the Diaqueen or MFG specs. And don't just come into this topic and post random stupid BS because you're a fanboy.

^^Have you not read the entire topic? I can buy pretty much anything over the internet. I'm just trying to find out why I can't use other oils. Which, through my search, I can use other brands of oils. So far, the Castrol Hypoy C oil seems to cover the best ground. And next time, how about reading before replying. Posts like yours is why it takes forever to search for some good solid answers.

There is no reason that you cannot use other fluids as long as they meet or exceed the Mits requirements... Many Dealers try to pull that "It will void your Warranty" crap and that is all it is.... Crap...
It says Mobil 1 in the manual and on the cap as they get a tremendous discount from Mobil Oil and Mobil makes it up on follow up sales from people that think "It is recommended" for reasons of Warranty instead of what it is, Purely $$$$
No different than with Mits Filters or Diaqueen Fluids... They go out for bid ... Lowest bid... Usually most OEM's do this every 3 years.. So now the question for filters and Dia Fluids should be, Who Makes It....... This Year.
