2871 Turbo

So what are the real world results on the 2871? I know everyone is going to say go w/ 3071, but I am looking for quick spool and power. What does the power curve look like? What is torque like? I am looking to compare this as so much time has been spent on the WR or 20g , what about the 2871?

I have only done Compressor map analysis on this turbo. I would go with the 20 G from bushur. It isn't worth the money for this particular vehicle. That is all I will say about it.
We run a 3071 and get full boost 400 rpm after stock.
That is a great compromise for me as the turbo makes well over 400whp on pump gas. Tuned on a Mustang dyno

Nick,

That is a good trade off for more power. What kind of kit do you have? Like what kind of manifold? etc..

Don't waste your time with this turbo.

I used it for about a year before I junked it for a GT 30.

You won't get much higher boost than Stock
you won't make much power compared to Stock
It spooled alot slower than stock because the hotside is too big. Get too small a housing and you make less power than stock.

You cannot sustain boost above 1.6 bar and it always taper to about 1.4 -1.5bar at 7000rpm

get the "small" GT30 if you are afraid of too much lag. The 3071 like what Precision dyno mentioned is the way to go
got about 50 whp difference when I swapped to the bigger turbo on a DTS dyno (load dyno Similar to DD) no tuning and no increase in boost

Thanks for all the input. I am looking at either the 3071, 3076, or 3040. I have not decided how crazy to get just yet..

We have a few different versions. We use tubular SS manifolds made here but are going to sell adapter plates for the stock Manifold.
PM me and I will get you some info.
