2.7 Gt42r

Guys the currently the set up I have in my car is

EVO 8
2.4 4G64
RnR Stage 5 head
GT35R Kit, Tial 44mm
Aero 1000hp pump, -10AN lines, etc
AEM EMS, 1000cc, Aero reg
3" TB, super quiet stealth system w/6 mufflers(3.5" for racing)
4"FMIC, 3"Alum IC piping, Tial BOV
RnR Sheet Metal Intake, 75mm TB
tons of misc stuff

I am going to add Alcohol Injection. The car will make 700whp at 38-40psi and 550whp on 91/Alky. I love the car and it is a great daily driver but I am always toying with the idea of doing something different. We were the first ones to build a 2.4 EVO 8 and have it running in a car. I like to be different and try new things. We will also be the first ones to have a 2.7 liter 4cyl in an EVO. We are really excited about this project and believe it will give our customers a whole new outlook on their build-ups.

Here is what we are working on right now for our new set up coming soon.

4G64 block
Billet stroker crank(Crower)
.60 over
custom long rods
custom pistons
7500rpm rev limit

Lots of custom built parts that take time and money to do.

The car will already make a lot of power, but the 2.7/GT42R would be crazy and original. Also this is a full interior, black leather, full weight, AC, DVD, sound system, Volks, No weight reduction, etc

Our goal with set up is to build the Ultimate Street car. Currently the EVO is my daily driver with the current 2.4/35R and I love it. By building a motor with more displacement and a larger turbo the spool should still be very nice for a street car. We expect full boost well before 5k on a GT42R which would be remarkable because the turbo is huge. The torque that this 2.7 is going to make is what will set this set up apart from others in the past. There will be a lot of torque down low which will be great for streetability.

It will definitely be crazy. I need the post up some pics of the car currently. It is crazy clean set up now. I can only imagine once the 2.7 GT42R is completed.

This sentence sums it up well.

With the length of stroke that is required to achieve that displacement (~4.5" or ~114mm), where are you going to fit a 'long rod'? What's the length of a stock EVO rod?

Right now we are estimating the current set will do

700whp at 38-40psi on C-16

550whp at 28psi on 91/Alky

With the new 2.7 GT42R I have no idea where we will be at.

Great plan, but I have a couple of questions. Correct me if I am wrong, but with the above set-up the only way to get a 2.7, would be with the following dimensions:

2652cc 88mm (.060 over), 109mm stroke crank

Wouldn't that make the engine way under-square, so you would have to keep the rpms down to 7500rpm & that is a huge stroke, so you might need some additional block clearance. Also with over boring that much, do you need cylinder sleeves to get the block to stay together?

So with the extra bore size & longer stroke, do you really think this will be a reliable set-up?

So, by spending $6,500 on the block work, crank, pistons and rods, your spending about $2000 more than a normal stroker kit. Will that allow the GT42R spool up be that much better than on a properly built 2.4?

Your loosing at least a 1,000rpm rev limit, so do you believe you will you gain in back in the lower rpms with the extra .3 in displacement and faster spool time?

I would be interested in hearing what does your 2.4 spool this turbo at, so we can compare if it would be worth the extra $$$ for this type of set-up versus a built 2.0 vs. 2.3 vs. 2.4. for a GT42.

Will it be worth it for everyone? Probably not unless you have a nice budget. The way we are building this motor it will be reliable. It would be pointless to build a motor that won't last. We are working with some of the top manufacturers and engine builders in the industry to make this happen.
