Angry engine control fuse?

so i'm driving on the interstate and the car just dies...i had been having problems with my the charge hose popping off so i figured that was it. i get out of the car screwdriver in hand to put the clamp back on and when i pop the hood it's on. i was extremely puzzled at this point. so i break out the camera phone that has a spotlight on it and search for anything out of the ordinary. nothing. i have a 1/4 tank of gas so i know it's not the gas. so i begin to pull stuff apart and check the fuses. bingo!! a fuse is blown. fortunately there is a spare 20A fuse behind the change holder. so i put it in and try it. the car starts. thought problem was solved and it was just a fluke. well this morning on my way to work. the ****er blows again and i took the fuse from the fog lights. but does anyone have a clue as to why this fuse keeps blowing??? thanks for the help and sorry if this is the wrong section to post this.

my wager is that one of the wires in that loop chafed through on the body and you are getting an intermittant ground-short. I would either diagnose it yourself if you have the skills, or take it to a trusted mechanic. Whatever you do, please do not just try and put a slow burn, or higher amperage fuse in there. Good luck getting her fixed.

Yes.. you got some wires exposed somewhere where it's making contact to the chassis or metal part of the car. I had the same issue on the weekend of 4th of July while on the freeway where the car just shuts at 80mph. It was actually my secondary O2 sensor wires that I've extended to use for my UR test pipe were it was shortening out and the 20amp fuses I've used just kept blowing. I had to call home to bring in my tools and a mile long of electrical tape so I can repair the wires temporarily while the car is parked on the shoulder side of the freeway. It was scary with all the speeding cars and semis that passes me by but I had no choice and didn't want the tow truck to screw up things even more.

If you extended your O2 sensor wires, then that's pretty much your issue. Otherwise, good luck if it's not it and bring the car to a repair shop or the stealership.

I had the same problem and it was the extended 02 sensor being the culpret. If you have that then their is answer.

Good Luck

well when i gutted teh cat my brother put an anti fouler on the plug so it would turn off the check engine light. but when i look at it the plug on the sensor is actually rubbing against the undercarriage of the car. so i guess ill just remove the anti-fouler and see if thats the culpret....

Just take a hammer and bang the underbody a little bit to give it room to clear. A couple hits with a rubber mallet and problem solved.
