I had an XS Power intercooler on my 507 horse SRT-4. My old SRT-4 was the fastest stock motor/bottom end car in the nation. Does that say something? Also stock intercooler intake temps were datalogged at 92-95* in boost on a 70 degree day. The intercooler was installed and on a similair day the intake temps were datalogged at 72-75* at WOT.

Ummm I think they work fine and I will purchase one for my Evo soon enough.

I'm simply stating that this is a concern when it comes to a component that has the potential to cause such a failure. That is why many people, apparently not all, would prefer to go with a trusted company when it comes to such an issue.

So using brand X FMIC core will decrease the chances of sucking cooling fins into the motor.

I find this whole subject ludicrous to begin with. Welcome to the evom show.

Truestory.com

This thread is useless unless someone has comparison data from dyno runs on the same day, same weather, same humidity...

i don't really get what you're trying to allude to.
apparently, some people would rather pay big money for brand name IC so they can have a piece of mind that something like this will not happen. i haven't seen any evidence to support that this might happen with the XSPower IC. if i see any evidence that this IC will have ill effects on my engine, then i would take the IC off .

Peace of mind? What piece of mind?

Who is to say that you wouldn't have less chance of problem with XS over "brand X". Why is this XS Power FMIC such a mystery?

If this has never happended, then why are we even talking about sucking in cooling fins.

The subject is ridiculous.

Its just like ARP studs. I sell them, I use them. Has anyone ever stretched the stock bolts? No.

People are strange.

It could also be becuase "insecure" people seem to like factual data of any kind. I'd love to believe it but until I see something other than temps taken 3 days apart from one another, butt dyno results I'm not sold on it becuase it does seem too good to be true.

People just want the fax.

A forge would be just a normal 1.5" outlet flange off from the IC pipe. Like the stock IC pipe.
