installed my XSPower intercooler this week

took me about 3 hours yesterday for the install. it was pretty straight forward except you have to cut the under tray because the intercooler hangs about 2 inches lower than stock. the xspower intercooler is considerably heavier than stock, it weighs 25.5 lbs with the lower intercooler pipes. the stock was so light that my digital scale wouldn't register a reading but i guess it's between 5-10lbs. i paid $180 shipped for it on ebay, i've seen other lower intercooler pipes alone go for well over that price. i'll do some data loggin next week and compare the intake air temp with my previous data with the stock intercooler, and hook the wideband back on to see if the air fuel ratio changed any. enjoy the pics.

i'll post some data log result next week. i did some logs last week with the stock intercooler and got around 15 deg increase from ambient temp on the intake temp. even if the intake temp doesn't drop compare to stock, the flow is still better stock.

didn't beat on it much cause i want to get the wideband back on just in case the air fuel ratio went up. i did notice that bost doesn't drop from 21-19 anymore like it did with the stock intercooler. i'm using halman manual boost controller. boost stays at 21 lbs all the way to 7500 rpm. i only did a couple of full boost run though, so i don't know if that's going to be a permanent change or nor.

I have been wanting to log some data on this core as well, just cannot find the time lately.

I did notice that about 2 psi of boost fell off, but easily returned with a lil bump on the hallman. 21-22 psi all day

You cannot really beat this intercooler for the money (ebay as well, only bidder), especially when you you sell the lower pipes to your buddy for $100 bucks.

I know a few guys running this setup, and we all love it.

i was expecting some drop in boost because the intercooler is larger than stock but the only thing i notice was that my peak boost stayed the same and didn't drop off all the way till redline. i think this intercooler is going to work well, if not it's still won't be worse than stock and the lower intercooler pipes pays for itselt.

That's a great price! The pipings probably won't do any harm but I read that cheap cores can be dangerous as their internal fins can come loose and be ingested by your engine....not sure if there's any truth to that I do believe that at this price, the core is probably of a lower quality as compared against the AMS/BR/Nisei.
