I didnt build the engine myself; a professionnal mechanic built it for me, but I was there all the time watching and helping. And I do have the rods, pistons and crank in my garage, and they look pretty ****ty to be honest 
If they are forged, I just lost all the respect I have for Japanese craftmanship 
But who knows, maybe they use forged rods now (maybe to offset the saving in active diffs) 
Besides if you look at the JUN or Tomei rods they look so beefy compared to the stock rods anyway.

well actually no matter what manufacturer, all con-rods I've seen that are factory forged look pretty crappy when you compare them with aftermarket ones. Jun, Carillo, Eagle and so on manufacture beautiful pieces that look like works of art. So I can see why in comparison the stock parts would look not-forged.
