Oil pan... stripped... what...?
So just got done installing a 10.5 hotside on the old turbo and was reinstalling everything when I noticed the bolts that hold the turbo main oil feed line to the oil pan were stripped? They go in about half way and then stop grabbing, but they still turn? I am so confused as to what to do. Should I somehow drop the oil pan and just fasten the line to the oil pan with a bolt and nut combo or should I go out and spend more money buying a new oil pan?
or what...
or what...

You may need to install a heli-coil insert. Although I am not exactly sure that will work in your situation. But a heli-coil is designed to fix stripped threads. Almost like retapping the hole.
Go to NAPA and ask them.

An Oil Pan costs about $106 + shipping...what ever you find is cheaper and most effective. I would say buy the new oil pan but i do not know exactly what your situation looks like. Stripped bolts can also be replaced with a larger self tapping screw. Ask a local auto part store and it should be someone knowledgeable.

Forgot to mention...there is a tool that can be used to re-shape the stripped thread of the hole and then you can buy a new screw the same size from a hardware store. Just a matter of knowing what size the screw and the hole is. I work in an Autoshop in school (highschool)...we use the tool often for stripped holes...i forgot what its called. but does anyone else know what im talkin about?

I looked into the self tapping tool and its about 90 bucks for the hardware and bolt size. So I might as well just buy the oil pan... I Looked at all the bolts involved and there's a dozen or so bolts that need to come out, one of which is kinda tricky gettin to. Anyone done this before?

Yea, removing the oil pan is a PITA. Its glued on with special Mitsu sealant/gasket maker. You'll have to remove the starter and that metal sheild over the lower bellhousing. Take all the bolts out then have to cut the Mitsu sealant with a razor blade type tool ( I ended up using a old cake knife cause its long and thin).
Then to re-install the oil pan, you have to clean the gasket surfaces very well. I'd recommend using the Mistu. sealant/gasket maker to re-install the oil pan (its special stuff). There is also a little gasket for that oil return line that should be replaced too.
Good luck
