hole in W/G actuator?
SO I do a boost test on a friend's car tonight and I hear air pissing out somewhere. I crawl under the car and find a whole in the back of OEM actuator is causing the leak. It looked like it origianlly had a rivet or something there but now it is just a hole causing a boost leak. Any ideas what is supposed to be where this hole is? Thanks

Since you have an actuator out of the car can you please tell me if there is a rivet or plug that is supposed to be filling the hole that I am talking about. It would be on the opposite side of the boost barb.

I noticed this hole too when I was trying to figure out my boost problem. It doesn't look like anything is supposed to be in there. When I intake tested it, I don't remember any air coming out of it. But I'd like to know what the point of it is as well.

Okay, I have my almost new actuator that was working fine when I took it off right here. There is a hole in the side that is about 3 mm or so and it's directly opposite the barb fitting. That's the way it's supposed to be. I pressure tested the system with it like that and no leaks.

It's probably there to let the opposite side of the diaphram "see" atmospheric pressure(0psig). If that side of the diaphram was closed off, I don't think it would work very well. This is all just a guess from an engineer. You may have a hole in the diaphram. Curious....

that hole is to release pressure on the backside of the wastegate to make the actuator move more freely
What probably happened is that the edges of the actualor have worn down and are leaking air
