The critical area is the top of the stud. The idea of the moly lube is to reduce the friction between the stud and the nut so that the torque applied is converted to clamping force rather than overcoming fastener friction. Once the stud is threaded into the block there isn't any significant torque applied on that end.
Read the installation and thread break-in directions provided by ARP's website very carefully. The relationship between fastener torque, fastener friction and clamp force are important to understand.

Do not put it in the block threads.
Also watchout for the ARPs I had the first headstud ever crack and stretch out of about 30 sets. If it would have broken all the way through I would have jumped off a bridge. It would not even tq to 70.
The instructions state 70ft lbs. They say 65ft-lbs when you call. I usually tq-to customers request to a certain point. I have done as high as 88ft-lbs on my personal vehicle. Most I do are 70-80ft-lbs however.
