Angry Problems shifting from 1st to 2nd on my 05 Evo

Last night i was having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. It grinded like 3 times, wtf? It seems like it doesnt want to go in past 7k, this is a new car and already is doing this ****. I had the same problem with my 03 but that was bc my clutch was on its last leg and wasnt grabbing. Anyone have the same problem with 05's? Will an aftermarket clutch help with this? If not im gonna have to send my trans to TRE.

It will break in, mine did this at first and now doesnt do it no more, before i couldnt shift anywhere higher than 7000 rpms, now able to shift at the rev limiter without any problems i also have an 05, mines got likle 30000 miles on it already. Sometimes u just have to force the shifter in, its annoying as hell but will get better with time. Alot of people say that at first they arent able to shift up high in the rpms, but with time it gets better so i think its normal in the 05's.

Mine does that at any rpm, but only sometimes. There have been other threads started about the "crunching" when shifting from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd. Some people recommend putting pennzoil synchromesh in the tranny, others say it will go away with time.

I've had some problems going from 2nd to 3rd at high revs, but it seems to be getting better.

Like i said earlier for most people including me it gets better wiht time, i think something has to break in whether it be the clutch or something in the tranny itself.

I got 2500k miles on my car so its still pretty new. I know Evo trannys are known for having problems shifting from 1st-2nd. Im gonna put the penzoil syncromesh at 5k, and hopefully that will help. And i hope it gets better as the car breaks in more. If not, i will send the tranny to TRE and have it completely worked

Shifting on the EVO suck ....... I can't believe MIT haven't done something about it yet

What helps are: SS clutch line, switch over to Pennzoil SM, under hood bushings, remove restrictor

I improved my 1st to 2nd shifting at redline with BG syncromesh and adjusting the clutch! Now it is alot better than before, but I also have ACT stage 3 clutch. I am sure it will work on the stock clutch as well, look at lancershop evodr and you will find the instructions.

You won't notice any shifting problem unless you shift above 7K rpm often

Sounds like a clutch adjustment problem. The clutch probably was not adjusted correctly. The best way to check it is to put the car up on jack stands and put it in first. You should be able to let the clutch out 3 inches from the floor in which the wheels should just barely start to turn. Anything less than 3 inches will cause this problem of the high gear shifting. It is caused from the clutch barely draging on the flywheel. This is advice that I got from TRE.
