Don't know which gauge to go by.
My Defi shows 18lbs compare to the Mustang dyno read out of 15lbs.
When compared to the AEM EMS reading, the Defi gauge shows about 22-23lbs and the AEM at 20lbs.
Looks like as far as my Defi gauge goes its reading is 2-3lbs higher than what it should be.

i have a defi boost gauge, i wonder if it's also showing higher than i am actually boosting? i also spike at 25 on my defi gauge.. i hope it's showing high and i have nothing to worry about. but it also means i'm still tapering off a lot. sigh, i hope i don't cause any harm to the motor

You say you hold 21-22psi in 5th on pump gas. I don't know when you run 5th gear to redline, but I did it last weekend at Summit Point Raceway down a 1/2-mile straight over and over, and I was only holding 21-22psi WITH RACE GAS, and it would still taper to 20 as I approached 7000rpm (lower by 7500). If you are running higher boost on pump gas than I am on race gas, then you are most certainly knocking and probably doing so heavily. This is why your engine hasn't blown, because the ECU retards timing when it sees that knock, which is caused by running too much boost on pump gas.
