i have owned 2 evos ('03 and now MR) and i've never hit a fuel cut, i boost 22psi. When you roll on the throttle in a higher gear your car is under a lot more load, which means your taking in a lot more air which is why you tune in 4th gear. When you hit full boost from a low RPM roll in lets say 6th gear your MAF readings are usually spiking BIG time(which is why i keep throwing Enginoverboost codes) im sure i don't get a fuel cut b/c i run the Utec. There is no way to control that unless you get some sort of a EMS or flash. Once again another reason why our OEM Maf's suck so much.

um, yes it has potential problems for the motor. TURN THE BOOST DOWN.

a 23psi spike isn't gonna hurt anything, especially in 5th gear. But, if you are spiking to 25psi without proper fuel or tuning, you gonna ping that motor to death.

Edit: i just noticed you are running an alky kit...25psi is fine spraying alky. you def need a flash to remove the boost cut. Should only be around 60 bucks or so.

Will Al do a boost cut removal for $60 or is it someone else? Carter and I are having the same problems.

You can hit fuel/boost cut if you have a boost leak as well. Make sure all the couplers on the intercooler/intake pipes are ok.

I don't want a street tune or a mail in flash for that matter. I just found a way to eliminate it with my emanage, so nevermind me...

thats because when he gave you your street tune, he got rid of the boost cut....you can't use logic to figure that out?

I think I solved my fuel cut problem... BAD GAS!

I drive from Philly to Boston and back every week, its about a 700 mile round trip. Before I leave PA I fill up with Sunoco 94 and that tank lasts me for about 270-300 miles of normal highway driving. I never have any problems hitting fuel cut when I'm home but I always fill up at the same sunoco station. When I get into MA there is an Exxon gas station that I've been filling up at on rt90, its basically a truck stop but they are pretty busy when I go in so I always figured the gas was good because of the shear volume of business they do. My tank is amost empty as it takes about 10.5-11.5 gallons of 93... they don't sell ANY 94 in MA.

Today on my way home from work I was getting on the highway in 3rd at around 3000 with very light throttle, couldn't have been more then 60-70% when all of a sudden BAM! Fuel cut again. Thats when it dawned on me, I only hit fuel cut up here and it only happens when I'm on that gas. Now I need to find a better gas station here in MA... anyone know?

UPDATE

problem is not solved. I'm still hitting fuel/boost cut in 4th gear with race gas at only 1.4bar. I'm starting to think my boost gauge is not reading right or something, maybe I'm boosting more then 1.4bar . I'm going to order a 3bar GM map sensor this week to log my boost with the LM-1.

It really doesnt matter what you boost is or what your boost is set at , Its the ecu "seeing" to much air flow . When the ecu see XXX amout of air flow through the MAF it "thinks" the wg or boost cricut has failled and the ecu cuts fuel out so cant "overboost" and it saves the motor . I didnt hit "boost cut" untill i put cams in , same psi as before but MORE AIR FLOW . Its not your boost or gas it your air flow . You can get a flash or trun the boost down (less air flow) .

how am I maxing out my MAF at such a low RPM? The Hz reading on my SAFC is less then 1000 at 5000rpm.

Your not maxing out the maf its the ecu thinks the wg failed . your moving enuf air @ xxxx rpm to trick the ecu into thinking the wg won't open . ie, on a STOCK evo high boost (25+psi) or on a moded evo (witch is way more efficent on moving air @the same rpm) at 21 psi
Bottom line more mod's more air is being moved at the same rpm and same psi
