Are you monitoring oil temps? What effect have you seen?

I notice that without a fan my oil temps climb way high after a hard run. Car sitting still + zero air flow over oil cooler = high oil temps. Have you noticed a large improvement in that area?

i can see that being benefitial at low speeds. but wouldn't the actual fan restrict air flow at higher speeds?

I highly doubt it, the air would still be hitting the blades which would make the fan turn.

Very interesting.... Is this just just turned on by a switched or is it automatically turned on?

Hard data would be great here... however, I'd think a pull arrangement would be more efficient.... I'm all ears though!

Of course, there would be modification need to the splash shield to make that work...

the fan kicks on with the radiator fan.....for now... I have thought about other ideas.... might wire it to a standalone switch as well....

They make thermostatic aftermarket fan control setups that are easy to hook up, and damn near idiot proff Easiest to use would be the kind that has the temperature probe that you shove in between the fins of the cooler. No tapping into the system, no chances of leaks, and works great

This would be great for autocross where you are running at high RPMs and relatively low speeds and have very little means of doing cool down laps of any sort.

This is a good idea but you set it up the wrong way. The purpose of the fan is to pull in air away from the cooler. With this set up, unless you wired it backwards, the fan is pulling air away from the cooler and when you are moving, the air is being pushed to go through the oil cooler. It's fighting the air flow. You should have mounted it on the opposite side so it pulls the air through the oil cooler and at the same time the force of the air when you are moving is helping move the air faster. The faster you move the air the cooler it gets. Science 101.

Great idea. I will definitely be taking this setup into consideration when I upgrade my oil cooler - although, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I would probably go with the fan behind the cooler.
