272s and the lopey idle...

Am I the only one that kind of likes the sound?

My neighbor has an 04 with the HKS 272s (tuned, but no cam gears), and I actually like the lopey sound. He hasn't said anything about stalling or any real PITA issues; that would be different.

I know they are a nice top-end mod, and I don't even think they sound bad... do they cause stalls, hitches, etc.????

They can, its best to run an EIDS or retard them with gears.

You'll need to add fuel to compensate for the increased air

i have 272's without cam gears, And you cant even really tell that it has aftermarket cams in it, but im used to big cams in ls1's where there is no mistaking the lope.

What I was trying to say is I wish my car loped way harder. Maybe some cam gears would help?

I run custom flashed HKS 272/272's with OE gears, and I've never stalled.

I have never stalled with my 280's either. You will need some kind of fuel control tho.

^ real lope...

lope from 272s? what lope? you meant that lil idle dip you get every 5 seconds....

adjust hte fuel correctly and you won't stall. don't do things the wrong way then whine about it. the 272s are great even for street and won't cause you any problems. if you can't stand the hicup every 5 seconds i don't know why people like that buy an evo and then buy cams.

???? you must not be able to read well. Who said anything about stalling. Never said anything about the 272's giving me problems or stalling or hicuping every 5 seconds.

i love the lope from my 272's w/o gears. it feels like the car has a heartbeat. I asked dynoflash not to remove the lumpiness because I like it so much. even w/280's the lope isn't as aggressive as the much shorter duration cam in my sb chevy.

Currently, I have straight HKS 272s with no cam gears, but my car is tuned (flashed). My car sounds badass, its incredibly lopey and you can 100% tell the car is cammed.

On another note, I have a pair of 280s going in later this month hopefully with the addition of cam gears, however, the cam timing will be set with only performance in mind, not to smooth out idle. I love the sound!
