CAM Instal
Hey guys, I was just wondering around how much would it be to install cams at a local shop. I plan on getting HKS 272s. Can I not get Cam gears or do I have to?
Thanks,
Johncy

As far as install and pricing, you might have a better chance asking in your regional forum.
Also if you plan on installing cam gears. NO, you DO NOT have to add them.
But if you do plan on adding them later, you might as well do them at the same time, because you WILL have to do the same job twice.

Get the cams installed if you know for sure the installer knows how to do them properly for the evo with care.
Get the gears if you know someone that can tune your car with them properly
Price for labor on both: $200 - 500
If you do it yourself: $20 - 150 (tools & supplies) 3 to 24 hrs

Most SHOPS charge anywhere between 175-225 for cams only, 225-275 for cams & adj. gears., however there are people on this board who install them for less.
good luck.

It took me 8 hours total at my apartment parking space. bleeding lifters took long time somehow. and taking out the cams were the total pain in the a**. they won't come out unless you use the crow bar.
