I live in MA and it seems after it snows i get a check engine light. I will check in the morning but its usually P0138, which had to do with the rear o2. I will drive in the snow, then once the car sits for an hour or two as soon as i start it throws this code. I have full tb with ultimate test pipe, i checked the wiring that was modded for the rear o2 and made sure to seal it very well. any other ideas as to why this could be happening??

i have the exact same problem. it started last saturday, and it was snowing that day. i had the mechanical fix for a month, and it never gave the code. now it wont go away, and will appear shortly after i clear the code.

i suspect your wires are exposed to the moisture and shorting out. double check your wires is all i can think of. good luck. if it is throwing that code then you know for sure it has something to do with it.

same here. Does anyone know if the light being on effects the car in anyway, other then being anoying.

you guys are saying you have the same problem, but it sounds like the first poster did a wiring fix (like Perrin's CEL fix), while some of you did the mechanical fix. So you guys are getting a rear 02 sensor code when it snows, whether you did the mechanical or electrical fix?

It sounds like the first poster has an exposed wire that is shorting out a bit when wet.


For the mechanical fix guys. the oxygen sensors have their own heater circuit and must reach a certain temperature to sense properly. Unless the snow/cold plus the fact that on the mechanical fix, the 02 sensor is no longer in the exhaust flow path, the sensor is not reaching operating temperature and throwing a code.

I have buschurs o2 simulater on a straight pipe. I haven't dove under the car too much, but saw that the light for it, that was on. The cel has been on for the past 2 weeks, but magically turned off today, even after I erased it on 2 sepreate occasions at autozone last week.

are u guys wiring the o2 cheaters under the car exposed to the elements? crazy. i have mine hidden under my center consol fully insulated and gets no weather at all.

I'm not using a cheater at this point, just the stock o2 going into the 3" catback.
