Going to CompUSA to get the car reader I need. Using a Pro Canon D30 digital camera...so I need a way to upload. Also a cable to upload the digital video camera for sound clips...

Well this is a beat old subject. We cannot say why we are 98% correct with our results...but if you do the ratios...

Stock WRX - 227 flywheel power
Stock WRX - 180 wheel power

Difference of around 40 HP give or take 10...

Stock EVO - 271 flywheel power
Stock EVO - 230 wheel power

Difference of around 40 HP again.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to lose 90 HP when dyno testing. The % is not that much. We set a baseline, keeping the variables constant, we achieved gains.

If you really have questions on the dyno then contact DynoComp who we use and knows how to CORRECTLY dyno cars. Then post your feedback as a third party. Richard - 480-596-0500

I was just saying it looks like you two guys were using the same type of dyno, and was wondering why they were so far apart?
180 compared to 230. I personally, of course like the higher numbers. Just wondering why the two are 50 whp apart?

Again...I suggest calling Richard at DynoComp. He can explain why. We do not run the dyno. We simply build the cars...but we can assure you that are numbers are MORE realistic.

No, your numbers are not more realistic. The reason your peak torque occurs at 5000 RPM is the same reason your figures are way off-- ramp rate. The rate is too high so the inertia in the engine/driveline/roller system is "adding" to the power readings. You need to turn down the rate or add in some inertial cancellation factor.

Learn how to use your (expensive) dyno, dude! It really is the best AWD dyno there is, but...

dyno's don't tune cars, people do...

Unfortunately, this whole ramp rate thing seems a bit silly to me. I haven't seen any guidelines on how to set the ramp rate for various vehicles. It seems more like you lick your finger stick it in the air, toss a coin, think really hard and come up with a number.

If the ramp rate can affect power so severely, there should be a very specific way to set it. There should be no guesswork involved.

And who is to say who's ramp rate is correct?

Not our dyno....

Furthermore the factory says peak torque is at 3500 RPM...impossible...most peak torque is later on. Ours comes on later with more post and more lag...

Do you have a dyno? Which one do you use?

The RPM at which peak torque occurs on a turbocharged vehicle is going to vary with the gear that you are in. For instance, in 1st gear, the peak torque RPM will be higher than in 5th gear. It will also vary with the RPM at which you floor the throttle. Floor the throttle later in the RPM band, and peak torque will occur later in the RPM band.

Dynos are not absolutes.

So I think I can finally say there is no real dyno numbers that anyone is EVER going to agree on.

Of course dynos do make for good hp/tq. ratings after you have added stuff to the car.

Plus they look like decent paper weights!!!!!!!

Im never going to debate/worry over dyno numbers Again!!!!!!

If you are unwilling or unable to correctly answer potential customers' questions, then what good are you? What image does that project of your business?

That has nothing to do with it...the dyno discussion you can do a search on and find 10 other arguments of the same thing. Nobody is right or wrong.

Furthermore we simply build the cars, test a baseline, and measure improvements with constant variables. That is what is important. Do you want to know how much HP a product ads, or do you want to know the ramp speed we dyno it. We do not run the dyno. Our friends at Dyno Comp do. So if you would like to discuss dyno testing then call us or Dyno Comp. Otherwise our image is projected with our Vivid Owned EVO, indepth website, and product selection.
