Knock Sensor: At what voltage will the ECU pull timing?

Does any one know at what voltage will the stock ECU start retarding timing? Is it progressive?

Thanks in advance.

Since it's a DSM. It has a single wire.

Knock sensors reads frequency. It then sends it to the ECU and converts it to voltage.

Not sure what frequency it starts to take timing out.

i'd also be interested in knowing the factory ecu's knock threshold

The EVO is not a DSM.

^ Okay, let me re-phrase.

The EVO just like the DSM's with 4G63....

All these tuners out there and no one knows? What are all the aftermarket turbo guys, that use the stock ECU, doing about the increased noise generated from these kits?

I just read a post somewhere on this subject. Someone was reporting stock ecu was at 2.0 with no timing pull. Timing pulled at 2.2.

This would make sense to me.

Please explain how the hell that makes sense to you since the previous post was about as vague as Area 51. The other guy was correct that the knock sensor reads frequency, you need an ocsilloscope to be able to accurately view what the knock sensor is doing. AS far as I know none of the dataloggers out there will show you knock as a direct voltage.

My XEDE does and I am seeing 2 volts at 5000rpm-redline.

If you data log the car you can see where the ECU starts to pull timing and every car is different.

From my understanding the Stock ECU is always changing its allowable noise limits so it can detect true knock values. Do a search in the Vishnu forum, Shiv did explain this logic very well at one time a while back. I would think the thread is still out there somewhere. I would try to explain it but I don't remember some of the specifics, don't want to post some mis info.
