quiet exhaust

hi guys,

i'm looking at putting an exhaust system into the IX.....
after owning wrx with a relatively loud exhaust and s2000 with amuse r1 titan (very extremely loud)...this time around i would like to get myself something quiet that will still give me a good performance...

any reccommendation would be much appreciated..

many thanks in advance...

Not sure, they all get loud at WOT. Even the stock one. Don't think anyone made one with "Quiet" in mind. its all about performance. Good luck, and hopefully someone knows where to direct you on this.

You would be best to search for different exhausts clips. There are quite a few if you search for them....

As for quiet, that is something only you can determine. What I consider quiet (my stock srt4 for example) others consider loud. It is a personal preferance that we cannot answer for you.

Some of the tanabe exhaust have a rating of under 93db which is suppose to be legal, but in reality it isn't because all aftermarket exhausts are illegal well atleast in NY I know they are and I'm not sure how much they give as in power gains, but they have a couple videos on there site you can her the exhaust at different ranges. here's the link:http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/medaliontouring.asp

Fujitsubo: Quiet, necks down in the resonators.
RMR: Relatively quiet, very low tone, no drone.
Turbo XS: According to Turbo Magazine's exhaust test, the quietest tested, good gains across the board.
Tanabe: THey have a new Touring Medallion Concept (or something like that) that is supposed to be no more than 93dB across the rev range. No idea about performance.

There was another thread awhile back about quiet exhausts...search should turn it up pretty easily

Perrin, magnaflow, and greddy sp are also pretty quiet. I think they factors to consider are which ones have bottlenecks at the flange to the cat and the resonator and/or muffler.
Don't need to sacrifice power for lack of sound.

I second the Fujitsubo RM-01A, have their downpipe and catback on my 03 Evo and
is just slightly louder than stock. You'll notice the difference and also this exhaust has
been trouble-free, no rattles, etc....Very high quality.
