intercooler

I want a new intercooler instead of the stock.

The stock core size is 19" x 11.5" x 2.75"
Overall dimensions are:
24.5"x11.5"x2.75"

The one intercooler I found on ebay is:
Bar and plate core is 12.4" tall X 20" wide X 28 and 3.75 " thick
With over 1200 cfm flow at 1 psi pressure loss

What do you guys look for, in an intercooler?

Any ideas?
Easiness of installation?

A intercooler isn't really that great off a performance gain. The stock intercooler is good for up to 400WHP.
You don't need a new intercooler unless you already have TBE, tune, cams, etc.

Do the mods FIRST. Don't get a new Intercooler until you have TBE, Tune, Cams, feul pump, etc.

No, this is not a start for mods. You haven't done any homework and are about to make a big mistake. There is no reason to upgrade your FMIC until you have either a larger turbo or every mod possible on the stock turbo. You also don't need IC piping. The UICP does not help, but the LICP is a good mod. Only get that mod, but get it after you've done all the basics.

Also, when you do eventually get an FMIC, don't buy it off Ebay. Get a proven one with proven performance gains: Buschur Race FMIC, Nisei, or AMS.

I don'y have any numbers to share so please forgive me, but you guys should check out the RnR Race FMIC.

It uses a Garrett 24x12x4 Bar and Plate core rated to support 1000 HP and I'm amazed by how cold the outlet pipe is after spirited driving. The price was lower than any offering from BR, AMS or Nisei.

Do you know this first hand or are you just repeating hearsay? David Buschur has seen gains in excess of 14whp by adding his race/deluxe IC on a car with BPU. Depending on what mods he already has an IC could be a worthwhile mod.

why wouldn't hte outlet pipe be cold? you're contantly running air by it... so unless the air inside is warmer than your body... the pipe will feel cold... this is not a good test and EVERYONE always says this...
