What is the quickest spooling turbo than can hold 25psi up to 10k rpm?

The parts for my 2.1 litter block (destroked 4g64) finally arrive this week so I am looking at turbo options now. Right now the turbos I have in mind are:

Ball Bearing 50 Trim
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=186048

Garrett GT3076R (aka GT30R aka GT3037)
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=GRT

FP 3065R
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...14#post2861414

Which of these would provide 25psi up to 10k rpm and beyond? Also which will spool the quickest? I don't really plan on going with a "kit" I will probally just get the turbo and get the HAFE Manifold and o2 housing.

none of those turbos listed will hold torque to 10k. bare minimum would be the PT67 or its many variants (GT4067, GT4067R, PT67 P trim) ect. and even those will run out of breath at 9500.

the other option i had in mind was using that crazy twin 16g kit that was floating around on the boards and ebay for a while. Who made that kit or does anyone know who has it now?

Good question, I'd like to know this as well. I suspect that we may have to sacrifice a bit of response to keep decent boost to 10k.

What kind of horsepower are you looking for? Why do you need 25psi at 10k? You know that 25psi on the 16g is not the same as 25psi on a gt42rs.

Quick spool was my first thought. If he said 8500 rpm I'd tell him to get the JDM spec 6.5 RS TME (I can't complain about it's performance)

yeah i am willing to sacrifice the response but having a car that can pull all the way up to 10k will be fun I don't want to pick a huge turbo (40r) when I all i want is about 25psi up to 10k so I can be at around 500whp.

10K RPM's and turbo response don't go hand and hand. Only the big boys 42R's etc. will make the 10,000 mark. All the response turbos i.e. gt 3071, Apexi RX6, etc. are only good for about 7500 to 8000 RPM's. I have the AMS 3071 and love it great for street and road course.

so a 3076 or 35r just run out of steam after 8k? I am not asking for 30+ psi just want a steady 25 psi. Whatever power I can attain at that boost preasure is should more than enough. I know I could go nuts and get that 42R but like the great Chaz once said "it's like using dynamite to go fishing".

Bushur/Dynoflash etc.. what PSI were your turbos pumping out when you were using the 2.0 litter at 9k-10k RPM. If anyone else has experince with these turbos at very high revs please give me some input

BTW for those who don't get it yet. I am willing to deal with lag, I am just trying to get the most effcient turbo possible.

35R should be able to hold power on a 2.1. I don't see why not? Why would you want to rev to 10,000? Full drag car? It's gona be hell on your Synchros

i hate shifting... i want to do something different for a street car. Since I most likely be hitting faster than 11.49 I doubt I will be able to make many passes. It will be a street car and a full cage is not very safe for daily driving. I will see how the tranny handles the high RPM shifts. Right now my shifts are flawless at 8k. If I have problems at 10k I guess SHEP or TRE will have some work to do.

Goals:

1. Build Motor
  • Purchase engine internals - DONE
  • Get the block to the machine shop
  • Assemble Block
2. Build Head
  • Buy Cosworth Head
  • Buy Cosworth Cams (when availible)
3. Source the right turbo
4. Source the manifold, O2 housing, and DP if needed
5. Get it tuned
  • Have Jestr give me a flash and BJ
  • Tune MAFTpro and setup safeguards

After all this I will see how the tranny holds up. Right now I have no problems with grinds but if I can't shift TRE or Shep will have some work to do

BTW if anyone is interested in donating parts that would be cool.

I figured the 35r could do it but is that the fastest spooling turbo to reach this goal? If the FP3065 or GT3067 can do it I would rather choose them. I just want 25psi and the power that comes with it. Hopefully 450-500 horsepower and alky will easily be reached.
