I bought a new evo x 09, has 3,500 miles on it, but when I push the gas pedal down to 6,000 rpm the engine or the turbo starts throwing a cloud of smoke across the exhaust system. I will like to know if this is normal in a brand new car. The mitsubishi dealer who sold me the car tells me that this is normal. Can any body could know something about this problem. Thanks

Could also be crap turbo, shot rings, blown headgasket depending on color.

If alot of smoke comes out of the exhaust system and it has the color of a normal cloud in the sky then i congradulate you with a brand new Evo X , when i bought my car brand new (40 miles) on it the dealer told me not to drive the car hard for atlest its first 1000 miles but i couldnt keep my foot off the pedal i had the same probleme and i asked a specialist and they told me that a brand new cars cylinders is lubircated with something i dont remeber what and when it burns it leaves a white looking smoke out of the exhaust so the car has 3500miles on it and if it still comes out that means the car hasnt been driven hard yet so its 3500 miles you can say it hasnt even been driven at all

Model year: 2005
Mods: 272/264, walbro 255, aem ems, intake, tbe, fmic
Miles:50,000
Conditions: 60 degrees, nice day
Race/Track History: First time with evo at track.
Contributing Factors: to much boost
Was first time at track with evo. Ran pump gas and VERY conservative tune. rev limit was 7k. timing very weak. Mistake I made was turning boost up to roughly 21psi when it was about 85 degrees out...later in the evening (my last run) temps had droped to about 60 degrees. Boost spiked to 25psi on pump gas. When i got back to pits car was idleing bad. I turned it off checked plugs and cylinder 4 plug was in bad condition. I replaced the plugs and car ran fine...about 4 days later i floored it in 4th gear and things went bad. Got home pulled plugs again and stuck a magnent tool in cylinder 4 and pulled out piston ring lol..

Yep, it sounds like a bad tune. My Evo use to idle bad and smoke started coming out through the exhaust. Then on occasions, there would be some knocks. I got a whole new ecu and it fixed the problem easily.

OK GUYS i HAVE 2 ENGINES TO CONTRIBUTE. Both the same 06 evo ix
520whp stock block for 604k, time for 60k service and clutch at the same time so might as well pull and built it right?
Basicly a buschur 2.0 that I personally assembled, 3500 miles oil pump failure toasted the mains.
ok my bad no biggie turn the crank new bearings put it all back together
Then 2nd time, freshly rebuilt again 500 miles at 607whp spun rod bearing 3 at the drag strip. The confusing part is this motor had strong oil pressure and the rod bearing on cylinder 4 is ugly as well. will no more after dissasembly
