Contributing Factors: 6K miles from last oil change

Just wanted to add this info. 7 years with clockwork oil changes and service except for this last change which went over 6K miles. Nothing out of the ordinary except for the fact that in the last 5K miles before it detonated revs were acting funny at the top of gears 4 and 5. Then check engine light came on then went off. Made an appt to bring it in the monday after check engine light went off and something popped on the way down to the shop. Pulled into Speed Element and they checked for compression and told me that the engine detonated and there was a piston failure in one of the cylinders. Engine is out now and looking for a replacement at the moment. Maybe it was just time? too depressed to think about it.

and you have no mods to the ecu? bad luck then.

Data on various MY Blown Engines

I guess the evo is not designed for the track if pushing more power. You basically exceed the engines thermal limit. The design is probably just pushing it stock. A 911 turbo can do that for hours.....

Conditions: 85 degrees fair

Contributing Factors: Frequently running lean spun rod bearing

Had just bought the car direct from japan ran fine the first couple of weeks but when i took it to a trusted mechanic for inspection found a rusty fuel filter and the entire gas tank was dangerously corroded. Installed a fuel cell with Bosche pump and car ran fine however after a month after the install spun a rod now got an oem evo 8 bottom end and fixings time for contemplation
