Mods:AEM intake, TBE, BR mini battery kit, Walboro 255, FIC 880's, AMS Fuel Pressure reg,LICP, NGK 8es, SMC Alky Kit.
Miles: 27000
Conditions: Cool night Driving home from Video Store with the chick!
Pics: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=232501
Race/Track History: Self Tune, had a dyno flash, that i used as a basemap. Went back to close to stock to get ready for my GT35r Install..... Was going to use stock motor.... about 100+ passes at the dragway...no issues. Few over rev's few misfires.
Contributing Factors: Alky nozzle came lose and got sucked into motor. Damaged head. Damaged pistons. Read thread to see more.

Just something for you guys to chew on....
Main Entry: 1mo·tor
Function: noun
Pronunciation: 'mO-t&r
Etymology: Latin, from movere to move
1 : one that imparts motion ; specifically : PRIME MOVER
2 : any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion: as a : a small compact engine b : INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE ; especially : a gasoline engine
Main Entry: 1en·gine
Function: noun
Pronunciation: 'en-j&n
Etymology: Middle English engin, from Middle French, from Latin ingenium natural disposition, talent, from in- + gignere to beget -- more at KIN
1 obsolete a : INGENUITY b : evil contrivance : WILE
2 : something used to effect a purpose : AGENT , INSTRUMENT <mournful and terrible engine of horror and of crime -- E. A. Poe>
3 a : a mechanical tool: as (1) : an instrument or machine of war (2) obsolete : a torture implement b : MACHINERY c : any of various mechanical appliances -- often used in combination <fire engine>
4 : a machine for converting any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion ; also : a mechanism or object that serves as an energy source <black holes may be the engines for quasars>
Seems to me like "motor" is more appropriate than "engine" based on their respective definitions. At least the 1st definition of motor actually talks about something to do with motion. Engine, on the other hand doesnt talk about actually powering something until definition #3.
Motor 1 - Engine 0
P.S. MY04 Evo here with BPU+(no issues, knock on wood).

BTW - i did some research and interviewed people who've blown their engines. ok actually i didnt but i talked so some well respected EvoM members and we pretty much all agreed on that it was some sort of user error, not enough oil, mis shift, bad tune, etc. something that shows its not some defect from the factory. although it seems strange that theres significantly more 05s with blown motors than any other year, according to this thread at least.

Here's another 05 with a blown motor. MINE. Mitsu has had my car for more than 10 days now (total). I have had it for.........4 1/2 days.
Model year: 05
Mods: None....
Miles: are you ready.............7000!!!!
Conditions: Mitsu said it spun a main bearing. They haven't given me much more info. They said everything will be brand new in about a week....as in the shortblock. We will see.
Pics: Like I said, 41/2 days..total
Race/Track History: Like I said....4 1/2 days total
Contributing Factors: over-rev....according to mitsu. I refuse to comment.
EDIT. Car fixed....all under warranty. good as new. The next 1000 miles is gonna hurt.
