My thought are that mits went the cheaper way out on many of the parts on this car, esp on the 03s. I think the rod bolt issue is just one of the many problems that presents itself with contunued use of the car. Just like the clear coat issue (wing, brakes), crappy paint issue headlight gear issue just to name a few. A lot of these can easily be fixed with with slightly higher quality parts. Some of which looks to have been included on the newer models. I know that some folks try and pass of damage like this to the dealership to get it covered, but its kind of the same as car insurance, just because people are commiting insurance fraud, doesnt meen that your claim shouldnt be paid especially since you are paying your hard earned money for it. We paid for our warantees in our buy price, whatever you paid for the car, and then when issues like this guys come about we get treated as if we are trying to pull something on them. Especially when its painfully obvious. I took my car in with the mods I had at the time as I never believed that a TBE and a MBC could cause a rod bearing failure, but I was wrong according to mits.
Now I have to hire an expensive lawyer to get to what I paid for?
How many guys have to have the same thing happen before its considered a common problem.
Sorry about the rant guys, but this crap that mits dishes out is really S***ty.

If you notice how pistons 3 and 4 have the most valve damage, it would be fairly obvious that timing was jumped AFTER 1 and 2 broke loose from their connecting rods. Obviously #1 has rotational damage from valves definitely caused from the connecting rod slamming back up into it after it had broken off of the piston, shooting it to the top of the block.
The valves obviously did Not hit until the very end, otherwise the motor would be barely running at all directly after said major valve slap. Once a LOUD knock was noticable the motor did not turn over 3000 RPM, but was held between 2000 RPM and 3000 RPM for 3-4 minutes so I could get off of the George Washington Bridge.

..Also to add on to my post earlier, once the intake valves became demolished (as in the pic below) the motor would not hold compression in 2 of the cylinders and most likely not run at all. Thus, the valves must have been demolished AFTER or DURING the final blow.
Cyl #4 head, rod/piston still attatched in cylinder
Cyl #3 head, rod/piston still attatched in cylinder
Cyl #2 head, rod snapped
Cyl #1 head, rod snapped, piston destroyed
