TURBO! I can't decide which one...

Ok guys, so here's the deal. I'm in to get a new turbo for my Evo 5. The thing is, I have no idea which one. After researching and finding some specs on the stock turbo, I see that this is big enough, comparing wheel mm and stuff that i don't really understand. Simply put, I want a large enough turbo that would be completely bolt on with everything I already have in it, such as the stock downpipe, headers, etc. Which one should I get?

The GT2871 and the GT3071R seems to be nice. But are they bolt on? Emailed a few folks and owners of stores but none responded. I understand my engine and your 8's are the same in this area. So which one would spool and perform like Buschur's BR500? Which Garrett should I take and could it be possible to get just the turbo and slap it in?! I'm not a hardcore racer, just looking for a lil mod to keep me entertained in the street together with the installation of a 264/272 pair of cams... That's it for me, not headwork, just tuning via Power FC, Cams and gears, and a bigger but not LARGE turbo kit... Ideas? Also please let me know where I can buy them, can be delivered to Poway, San Diego... Thanks!

The only way your going to get what you want is if you make your own kit and that will cost you a nice penny. I know what your trying to say. Thats why im going to make my own turbo kit header and o2 houseing so it can fit with my dp stock trim. But since your nto going to crazy with you car this is what i think you should do i see you getting max 380-420 whp with a good tune but your not going to get that with a stock turbo i think you should just look at buying a white rabbit turbo they can put out about 450 with a solid tune and suporting mods and it wont be as much and you will be happy as well.

thanks guys... ok i get it. so anyone knows about the gt2871 and gt3076R? They seem to look ok to me. But i have no idea if they could bolt on to my evo. anyone have any opinions about this? And how different are they compared to the GT2835R and the GT3037? I don't think Garrett still makes them since I couldn't find them in my catalogue anymore. My downpipe ain't stock, i forgot. I am planning to get a custom header to go with the turbine if ever. Thanks!

3076 if anything, but I would try alky first before you upgrade if you are looking for more power.

Then just buy a turbo kit then it makes so sence to just to buy a bolt on 2835 cuz stock turbo puts out the same amount of power.

I've been doing quite a bit of research over the past couple of months and the 20G-9 is the victor in my book for those of us not looking to shatter any power numbers but want a "head jerking" experience in any gear.

i see... the stock turbo of the evo 5, what i have is already like the TME. Is teh 20g from BR? How big is the difference compared to the TME? The 25G is too much for me since that would lag too much...

Yes, the 20G-9 is from Mr. Buschur himself. If you do a search for 20G-9, you'll see how it compares to the other BR turbos. The TME IMHO makes roughly the same amount of power as the stock '03 turbo. So again, IMHO, I think it'd be a waste of time and money going that route.

If you are going to put your kit together, thats fine. Dont take any short cuts. I just put mine together after how many months. GT3076 id the way to go. It is a good all around turbo. If you are going to keep the stock mani then ny all means get a 20g with alky, but I have 2 words BIG TURBO. It will put a smile from ear to ear on your face.
