Greasing the APS BOV?

I've had the APS BOV since it first came out. It was great - held boost like a champ but opened pretty easily so there was never an issue of bucking/surging/drivability. Recently I feel like the grease has "dried" up, for lack of a better description. At anything under 1 BAR, the BOV does not release/recirculate properly and the car bucks/surges a little. This is especially evident at part throttle, and I don't remember the BOV being like this.

Is there a consistent need to grease the piston in the BOV? And if so, is there a high temp grease that would work better than others? I'm afraid to put too much in there, since this thing will recirculate and I don't want any of that going back into the turbo... ideas/suggestions?

contact APS and ask. I would be interested in what you find out as well.

I tried looking on their site - no email info! Only a phone number, and they're in Australia.

I've had the APS bov for about 2 years. I recently cleaned and regreased it with a very light coat of white lithium grease. It's working great.

Did you have to take the whole thing apart and take the piston out to regrease it?

Or did you just put some drops in from the vents?

Have had the APS BOV for about a year now and every once in while I wipe it down and add a drop or two of Mobil One in the vent. It has worked flawlessly...
hope that helps...

I sprayed some white lithium grease on mine too... I guess I'll do that every so often...

Just curious... how's "white lithium" grease different from the normal stuff? Is that available at like advance auto?

I'm really not sure, its just some stuff I had in my garage, I think I bought at auto zone or walmart and it was only a few bucks a can, its a turquoise blue can. I just sprayed it on the top of the BOV at the gold part where it vents.... I just sprayed a little bit so the next time I drove my car when the piston moved the grease was able to seap down into the valve.

I took it completely apart. I wanted to clean it, since dirt gets into the vent. You can buy white lithium grease at any autoparts store. It doesn't seem to thin out like regular grease.

I wouldn't use lithium grease that is more of a bushing grease. I think a oil like 10w-30 would work better. That is what I use on mine.

I used sewing machine oil because you want a light oil. Works great in my Turbo Smart dual port.
