ATP 3071 whp
Im about to order the ATP 3071R kit because Im convinced that its the best package out there for what I do (basically everything - street, strip, motorkhana, gravel, tarmac rallying and a bit of circuit work).
So Im drooling over the dynos and something jumps out at me. Why does the 3071 make 375 whp in the first dyno and 306.6 whp in the second and third? What gives?
Im sure there is a simple explanation for it - but I would like to have a very clear idea of whether 375whp is realistic or whether its really 306whp....

well the 1st run is the basline, untuned and probably without the turbo kit installed....and then for a direct comparison, the 2nd with 375 is the "after", tuned and installed. dunno why the other two have such low numbers.
and you might wanna rethink that whole opinion about the atp kit being the "best package out there" but to each their own....

I hadnt seen the Vishnu 3071 - Ill check it out.
I would prefer to keep the stock manifold but Im not married to it. Any other suggestions out there?
*edit* ouch - $US 4k for what looks like a very similar kit to the ATP kit plus a LICP and a set of injectors. I think I will stick with the ATP kit. Unlike alot of other owners Im running a Motec M800 so I have alot of tuning flexibility. The ATP kit can always be adapted if it doesnt turn out quite how I want it.

In my opinion, this turbo does not deliver a power increase that justifies the cost of the kit+installation+tuning. Aside from the fact that the compromises of the ATP kit reduces the power potential of this turbo, there are more recent, less expensive options that deliver roughly the same power potential as a 3071 at a substantially lower cost, and with less lag.

If you want to keep the stock manifold, then I would second the suggestion of the Vishnu stage 2 kit over the ATP kit. Looking at the ATP dyno charts, it should be noted that they compare to a STOCK Evo. If you compare the ATP 3071 kit to a modified Evo running its stock turbo, the gains will be much, much smaller. A properly setup 3071 turbo kit should be able to net you around 380-400whp (dynojet dyno) and between 320-330wtq. This would be on 93 Octane (R+M/2), which may be the equivalent of 98 Octane (RON) in your country.

My power target is 362whp.
Modifications will be: standalone ecu running speed-density, custom 3'' exhaust, deletion of entire intake structure with hardpipe running to a pod in the driver side (lefthand drive) lower airvent, 100 RON (equivalent to 94 - 95 octane in the US), injectors, Walbro 255, aftermarket 3 port solenoid (if necessary).
Cams and cam wheels will be stock (I could change them but I dont want to because Im not impressed with the power gain for the cost).
Is 362whp unrealistic with the ATP kit with those modifications? What is the difference between the ATP kit and the Vishnu kit because Im not really seeing it.
I can live with added lag of a slightly larger turbo because Im not really making power above 6800 rpms because the stock turbo seems to be just be blowing hot air at that point. Im willing to lose 500 rpms down low and gain 500rpms up top to make more power in the midrange.
Other than the 3071R I dont see alot of other options out there. The 20G has documented surge problems (and looks a little bit too big when you look at it on a compressor map), the 3076R is slightly bigger than a 3071R (might be the solution), I can't even find a compressor map for a 50 trim (and isnt it an oldschool T3 anyway?) and I dont know anything about the 3065.

362 whp on what dyno? if thats on a dynojet, there's no reason you can't hit that with full supporting mods on 93 octane on the STOCK turbo...
Soon2Bevo hit 378 with the stock turbo and 93 octane. i'm sure if i added a race fmic and upper ic piping, i'd hit over 362.....and these numbers are on a reflash, not standalone.
you might want to redo your research if you don't see a difference between ATP kits and other makers such as vishnu or buschur....

Target is 362 whp on a Dynodynamics in shootout mode. A stock turbo will not make a bees dick over 288 whp in shootout mode on a Dynodynamics (Im talking 93 octane, no alcohol and no rattles or pings). Im currently making around 270whp on that dyno.
What about surge on the E9 20G on a 2.0 litre? I can live with lag but I don't think I can live with the car surging midcorner on part throttle. Is the E9 20G really surge free?
