Max efficient boost on stock turbo with stock actuator?

Just like the title says.

I am planning on adding alky and I am curious to see what people who are running stock turbo & actuator are boosting at. I've seen alot of numbers thrown around but I want to know if there is a general consensus. Thanks!!

23 w/ stock actuator. 25 w/ aftermarket actuator. People push it beyond 25 but it's really out of the turbos effeciency range.

Do it, i think TTP has done 31.

Warr does 25 w/ Forge actuator and all supporting mods; and he knows his ****.

Possibly, I thought he ran 31 on stock though? Not consistantly, but i saw him post a story of doing it once on the dyno or something.

Edit: I have a horrible memory, and that is why i always say "i think" or "maybe". I am often wrong, but generaly still in the ballpark. If you really want to the know the exact answer to your quesiton search around, this has been covered a ton of times.

Usually between 25-28psi because the stock turbo will only spike to those levels and then taper off to the lower 20's. The high boost will give you a big torque spike although the turbo will be out of its ideal effeciency range.

Why the aftermarket actuator helps here?

Who sells this?

Thanks

Is that with or without an upgraded actuator?

The actuators purpose is to sustain a higher boost level over a broader RPM range. You will still be able to hit higher boost levels on the stock actuator w/ a boost controller but the boost will taper quicker.

It sounds to me like you are asking the wrong question.

Max efficiency on the stock turbo, at least according to the TD05HR-16G6 compressor map, is at stock boost levels (e.g. ~19 psi tapering to 16 psi at redline).

23-25 psi, tapering off to about 19 psi by redline is still decent, efficiency wise, but not optimal. Will definitely make more power than stock, though.

Anything above 25 psi will have the turbo spinning at over 130000 RPM, not the wisest thing, IMO, but you will make a little bit more power.

If you are concerned with the turbo's life then don't boost more than stock setting (spike to 19.5 and settle to 16 PSI at redline).
But if you want max power and has Meth to help, I say spike to 30 PSI. Don't worry about where the boost settle. Such a spike will give you that sledgehammer feel and the TQ makes V8 guys standup and take notice. :}
FWIW, I have been letting it spike to 30 PSI for over a year now. I run 93octane and meth (10# nozzle) full time. And I still have stock 03 turbo. And as a matter of fact I took the GT35R kit off because I like the stock turbo on this spike much more so than the GT35R setup (with my normal fuel setup). One day I'll have enough money for a 2.3L build and will run the 35R again.
