maxing out the stock engine...

i know theres a lot of guys on this forum that have pushed their internally stock engine to the max.
whats the most youve been able to push out on your stock internals. also, post up cause of failure if failed and how long it lasted.
please note fuel or injection used.

i'll start with mine first:
stock internals just arp head studs, and an off the shelf PeakBoost to4r kit i did 522awhp/400ftlbs (109 octane) on a mustang dyno.
the car trapped 130 @ 487awhp/346ftlbs.

heres a quick little video of her on the dyno:

dyno and launches

cause of failure: spun rod bearing (suspected stretched rod bolt)
lasted ~5 dyno runs and 3 7k rpm/20psi launches at this power level

lasted 10k miles on the pumpgas(91octane) tune ~430awhp for ~10k miles.

Stock Engine, Stock Head (Aside from Cams and Head Studs).

Vehicles has 26k miles.

Dont know what the car will trap at. At low boost it trapped 126-127 about 10 times (26ish psi). The car is now holding about 30psi. Have not gone to the track with it at high boost but have made plenty of "tuning" pulls.

I shift the car at 8.4k and no lift to shift (Revs hit around 9k between shifts).

Oh and the fuel is 110 leaded, run it at around 11.7 - 12:1 AFRs

On pump it runs 22ish psi at 11.5-11.7 AFR

Well mine trapped 129 @ 29psi... made 5 passes at this HP level but the gas wasn't doing me much justice. Knock sensor was a little noisy for my comfort level so I had to run it richer than I had it tuned for.

Ill go back in a week or so and try again after I get some new 110, add some timing and lean it out again. Im guessing a trap of 132 @ 30psi.

And to help answer your question the fastest stock motor aside from yours and mine that I know of is EvoDaves.. He trapped at 129 as well. I believe he had it dynoed shortly before that at around the 550 mark but i could be wrong.

i was at 29-30psi when it made 522/400 on the mustang dyno.

what type of v#'s were you seeing on the knock?
either way, very nice #'s

i honestly think that we couldve went 135mph, had it made it out to the track that nite lol
oh well, we got the 2.4L bottom the other day, now its just finding the time to install it.
im also going to be developing a new turbo setup for the car with the bottom end change.

heres a better link to that video: click here

that last hosting site seems to load super slow...

i have made 558 awhp ....i never raced with more then 490-510 awhp and that netted me tons of low 11 second passes at 127-129mph . Best was 11.1 at 129 Never got to push more power cause of broken front diffs and the end of the year. Stock motor besides headbolts and cams, stock intake manifold , stock throttle body.....biggest accomplishment i can think of though was this was all on 93 octane and meth injection with a smallish nozzle....never race gas. We COULD have run prolly 10.7-10.9 at 132-133 the day the meth box took a crap....it was sooooo strong.

bah they never ran the car it seems

I dont like Dynos.. they dont show the real power. Its just a good benchmark. If the car makes 600 horses but can only run a 125 MPH it isnt all that powerful

Quickest, not fastest.

He was at 127 or 128 mph with the stock motor.

The volts would range alot obviously but here is a log from the last run. You can see it did not like the gas in the car. I have never seen this much knock coming from the car and i have ran it at higher boost so something was amiss... the knock volts are displayed on the left:

That's a terrible power curve, it never fully spooled or was boost creeping.

Not a good looking curve, but the highest whp I've seen on stock pistons/rods from the evo.

Trapspeed is a good indicator of hp. If they're "only" trapping 125, it's unlikely they're making 600+awhp on that pass.
