Amsoil Or Bg Syncro Shift Ii
Need to know which oil is more favored? I have the BG man coming to see me this afternoon to give me gear oil for 11.00 a quart vs AMSOIL theat I found for
8.74 but it is GL4 specific. Has anyone tried both lubricants? Or what is your take

If I were to rank transmission oils
#1 - the oil Mitsu specifies for the 6-speed MR
My second choice would be the lubricant specified for the Evo 5-speed
My third choice is the BG product

The lubricant part number for the 6-speed is M2313376.

Regarding the Amsoil, I have been using it for about 7000 miles and 3 track days without any issues. Before that I used to Pennzoil Synchromesh, but it had a tendency to wear out after ~5000 miles.

I don't know about Mitsubishi Lubricants, except for the ones made for the rally cars "CITIZEN OIL" I will try BG due to my car is an 03 with 17k and just starting to have the dreaded 5th gear grind, from a 4th to gth gear change @6500-7000rpm. So I am sure not gonna dealer screw it up further by trying to replace the syncros....since all my friendS broke after it being repaired...so I will either send it to Shepherd / TRE and get it done the first time. Diaqueen yes I will use for the Transfer case and the Rear Diff, but there are more superior lubricants out there...but hard to get. DUCKHAMS / TOTAL / MOTUL, but it is all a matter of choice, the manual states API GL4 for the gearbox, and straight 90 for the transfer and the rear diff. Now if the BG is not a good oil were it braksdown quickly I will say so, since I have Mitsubishi fluid in there I would like to try something else, but never know I may go try AMSOIL or go back with the factory.

bought was open because they were using it to fill Evo transmissions.
BTW, my factory service manual, this is for an '03, calls for GL-4 75W-
85W or 75W-90. Anyway, the day I brought this stuff home I still wasn't
convinced I had the right oil. But, I had occasion to call Jon at TRE
that day and while I had him on the phone he confirmed I had the right
stuff. This is where I got the recommendation for using the MR oil in
the 5-speed transmission. As far as I am concerned, if it is from Jon's
lips then God has spoken.
As for the BG product, I used it years ago in my DSM. My DSM, like
most, had shifting problems and the BG product helped a lot. Over the
years many concoctions were tried in the DSM trannys. I tried them too.
Some were horrible and some were good but, for me, BG worked the best.
I was especially impressed by how it would drain after 20,000 miles
still looking as clean as when it went in. However, this transmission
eventually got noisy and I had to replace it. The coast-down noise had
increased in volume so much I was convinced I soon would be thumbing a
ride if I didn't do something. So, if the heavier weight lube
recommended by the maker will work without causing shifting problems,
then there may be good reason for using it.

another fly in the ointment but I put in BG II and it fixed almost all my shifting problems...but I've only been running it for 5000 miles so I don't have any long term comparisons to help you (all I can say for sure that at least in my car it is 100% better then the stock stuff)

3 quarts. I did my first change @13900 with bg synchroshift II. THats a killer price for that but I can't seem to find where to order it on that link. I got 3 qts from slowboyracing coming tommorow from the ups man. Im about to change it again @21000 or so. I like the fluid and think it works real well, but straight daiqueen for my transfercase.
