Going with a GT30R on my evo...

Well i am pretty much going to get a loan and dump it into my evo...

I already have a 3inch d/p test pine and cat back...

but i want a turbo upgrade and the gt35 is what im prolly going to end up with.

Now for people that have done this, how much am i going to end up dropping on everything once said and done??

My figures are aroung 4500, but they migth be low...

turbo/manifold around 1800

FMIC 1000

AEM 1000

and that leaves 700 for intectors and misc.

I am going to be doing the install, so no labor costs and if i have issues i have a few friends with shops that could help me out

so am i being resonable??

I am going to run rod bolts new headgasket and headstuds, btu thats pretty much all i am going to do to the motor...

my goal is to put down atleast 500whp, but id be happy with hi 400's

now my last question is, would the gt30 be the best turbo for what i am aiming for??

do you want the 35r or a 30? and if 30, 3071 or 3076?
If your lookin for 500 hp, your gonna want at least a 3076 with meth injection(unless you just want to dyno it on race gas just to say it will make xxx hp then drive it on pump). I'd say select a trustworthy shop and tell them your goals. Let them work something out with you.

WOW a LOAN to build your Evo, not smart. ANYTHING goes wrong with your car, you won't be able to fix it. I would advise strongly against this. Waste of money and your future.

on second thought, it would be wise to NOT get a turbo upgrade just yet. It would be wiser to DEFINATELY NOT take out a loan to mod your car. Is this a 9 or an 8? if its a 9, all you need is a MBC and flash and you could be at around 350whp. From there, cams, then another tune(or just do the cams, boost controller and tune all at once). Do youself a big favor and resist the temptation to void your warranty so you can say you have a turbo upgrade.

Is your only mod a 3'' TB exhaust?? No cams, MBC/EBC, fuel pump, upgraded clutch, IC piping, gauges, anything?? If you're going to try to get the 35r you're going to need some supporting mods to go along with it.. I know you said 700 left over for injectors and what not, but injectors are probably like 300, which leaves you only 400 which probably wont be enough for the rest of the supporting mods.

well going back i did a typo, i ment i am prolly going to end up with the gt30r** NOT the Gt35R, the 35r is WAY out my my power range and im not trying to spool to 35psi

as for the cash wise, the only reason i want to get a loan so i can do everything at once instead of waiting 2-3 months to have all the funds to do so. the car is paid off so i just have to worry about the hi insurance rate

the car is a 04 evo8

and regarding the clutch, an act clutch and flywheel combo its on its way because the stock clutch started slipping about 1000 miles ago...

the 3076r is a good way to go. Try to get the 3076r-13 with a to4s cover and a .82 back housing. That turbo combo makes the mosr power. Its rated at 600hp where as the -12 is rated at 550. It has a bigger compressor wheel. Good choice. I already out grown 452 whp I need more so I am looking into a gt35.

Theres nothing wrong with waiting a few months to do a turbo. Do you have any other supporting mods besides the exhaust? If not you have things to do before you get your turbo upgrade.

You will need:

GT3076 or GT35R Turbo kit
GSC or Comp Cam
Mentahol Injection
Ingnition Amprfier(HKS DIL 2)
AEM EMS with Speed Density
FMIC with piping
BOV(To hold 30psi)
GM Boost Soldenid
Boost Gauge
ARP Headstud
BR Cone Filter
Fuel Injector(For big turbo)
Fuel Pump

This will run you 7-10k on part alone.Your best bet is get everthing on the list except turbo and see if you like that setup. If not,go with the turbo!!

It's probably not a good idea to rush into a turbo upgrade. It could just cause you more problems than if you were to just take it slow. IMHO, i'd do what Ang said. My .02

like others have said, dont rush into a big turbo upgrade so quickly, esp i all you have is exhaust right now. Just get all your bolt-ons. It will be pretty dam fast

well i already had a aftermarket intake and a tubular ram horn style header on the car but i got pulled over here in cali and i had to get teh car reff'd so i took that stuff off and put the stock stuff back on and sold the aftermarket stuff that i had.

the only reason why i want to go with a gt30r (or something that size) is so that i wont have to break bread again and upgrade a second time...

but for now i guess i will just get another manifold/intake/fmic/cams/TB and re-install the apex avc-r. but i dont think that alone is going to make the power i want...
