Help please.. Car wont start after heavy rain..

This morning i arrived at work at 7:00. Made two stops on the way in and car was fine. Fired up at my house no problem. Drove home from the shore yesterday. The only thing i noticed was upon downshifting the revs seemed to carry instead of drop. Only did it for a little bit then went away. Was not very noticeable. I get to work and it started POURING out for about 2 hrs. Went out to get lunch and the car wont turn over. It tries to and sounds like its almost there but just wont turn. So far i checked the hoses and they look good. I have 1800 miles on the car. It seems like this happened after the rain considering the problem occured after and was fine before. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

Is it a bad connection at the battery? Or bad battery?

Does it turn over and just no spark or does it not even turn over like the battery is dead?

check your fuses in the fuse box, under the hood, drivers side, especially the yellow 20 amp.

Hard to figure out from here.

Any wet connections that maybe aren't plugged in all the way?
Can you hear the fuel pump run?
Do you know if you have spark?

ignition more than likely got soaked and it will start when it dries out. It could have gotten rain water down under the spark plug cover where the boots/coil packs are at and those are what is wet. just a thought......

check the cam position sensor. It can get wet easily in heavy rain and in car washes. un-plug it and blow any water our of the connectors. Its on the top of the valve cover to the drivers side.

I delievered pizzas for 2 plus years on a Plymouth laser RS(4G63 engine), the car was missing the hood for well over a year, I ran a cone filter and never had the plastic cover over the sparkplugs. I drove the car when it was pooring water, the car never failed to start or never gave me issues with missfiring due to water intrusion, my air filter use to be soaked of water but never had issues..

I doubt the rain caused any starting issue to your car, maybe if it was a distribuitor fitted car maybe but not the case. Aim for a different root of problem.
