Since you're in the UK, why not run your own hybrid Evo400 turbo? There is a variant combining a surge-ported IX compressor housing with 4" inducer, an upgraded compressor wheel, 10.5 turbine housing, the larger Ti/Al RS turbine wheel, and an extremely fast spooling ball bearing cartridge. That is the trick setup! I'd get one myself, but I'm sure it's priced just a bit out of my reach.

Where would one buy a IX TME turbo? (Ti/Al)

What are we talking on pricing of some of these kits. Besides power and spool, pricing is the 3rd most important factor... at least to me.

The TME-9's are assembled by both Blouch Turbo and Turbochargers.com. Speed Element, in Fremont, CA, can source you one for btwn $1100-1300(I forget exact $). In addition to the turbo, if you will be using on an VIII, you may need the install kit(also available from Speed Element), which includes turbo outlet pipe and water/oil lines.

sounds like the AMS 50R Kit or the TurboTrix 50 trim kit...

now where did that loan comparisons website go ... (only kidding!!)

..but which one? 50R ot TT 50 Trim, or are they about the same?

havent heard or read much about turbotrix but heard/read LOTS on AMS and how good their customer support is as well as there research and development etc etc...

TTR's kit is just as good as AMS. Their manifold is top notch and heavy duty. The only real differences worth mentioning are that AMS usually ships a recirulated wastegate.

Most of TTR's kits are VTA wastegate, however I"m sure if it was desired they would easily recirc it for you for a tiny bit extra.

Bang for the buck I would rock TTR's kit...obviously.

I would love to...but the 50 trim died. (bearing went out, ****ing Innovative)

Right now I'm at a toss up...my original plans were to just build a 2.3 with the hp61...which will likely still happen.

I just haven't decided if I want to spend another 3-5k on the car....and then when I do...will it be worth it?

Not real sure what killed the 50 trim. A bearing went out on the exhaust side and the wheels kept hitting the housing and stuff.

It was one of the Innovatives that came out of that batch around the time they were having troubles. I'm just going to assume that it was **** from the get go. I bought it used from a member on here who had it for 3k miles. I put about 2k miles on it in 3 weeks after my tune and it just took a **** one morning on me.

I bought the hp61 b/c I was going to build the stroker...I just think its going to take me a little longer than I wanted to get the money together....and I really miss the extra power on low end that the 50 trim offered. At least it would spool up in 1st gear...hahah.

The 61 spools in first...but doesen't always build enough boost to even open the wastegate....oh well. Its still 500whp...so still fun.

Your not gonna find a new turbo with signifigant TQ gains that dosent sacrifice spoolup, unless you go with a stroker kit. I heard that even a gt35r spools up at about 4000-4500 RPM, thats only about 1000 more than stock.
