So it's a turbine housing, then? Is it a 10.5 housing modified to accomodate a larger turbine? That would for sure slow the spool, but reduce the back pressure for more gains up top. Sweet.

I was going to get 10.5 housing ported and coated, but should I wait for this new turbo (w/ improved 10.5 hotside) to come out instead? I'd hate to have to port and coat twice.

WOW! Dave can you give us a ballpark of an idea what you plan on selling this turbo at when all the kinks are worked out on it? like xxxx-xxxx (ex 1500-2000 or something like that)


Plus id recomend making a ton more than you made 20g-9-5's because those are just so damn rare and hard to get a hold of. people will want these bad so make -many-

i keep hearing about how you have to add methenol or alcohol or something for a really fast time. i am looking at trying to get solid 11 sec daily driver with nothing but pump gas and street tires. would the 20g do the trick?

Just for reference, when I had the 20G-9 on my car, I ran 11.7-11.8 @ 119.89 mph INTO A 10 MPH HEADWIND. I only went to the track once with the 20G when my clutch took a poop. While it was getting resolved by Exedy, I decided to mod the crap out of my car and upgrade the motor and tranny as well. hehehe

The mod bug is a bytch. You break one part and you replace it with 3.

ok that is a good reference. yeah the mod bug sure is a b1tch...
that is a pretty solid 11 so this is sounding like a good option right now.

No idea on cost right now. Under $2,000 for sure, but I don't know. It could be close to the same price.

I don't see a problem with upgrading a current EVO9 turbo or a 20g-9-5 to this new stuff when it is done.

My brother, Daniel, wants to take our black car out to the track with all of our turbo upgrades we offer, including this one. Then just spend a day making passes and swapping turbos onto the car. We figure doing this we can set the record with each turbo made. Nice and light with slicks and such.

The new version is going to spool a little slower and cost a little more. What we are shooting for is a stock appearing turbo, bolts to the stock manifold/02 housing, uses stock oil and water lines and will make 500 whp on our dyno.
dave, im sorry this thing come out like this, but im glad it came out and i will tell everyone i know about how good this new turbo is going to be for our cars. im sure you will be happy to know that your product is right before you just start sending them out to us!!! i hate that you are getting all these questions and you aint even finish with the product, but im glad to hear you are making progress yet again with the 9turbo!!! keep up the good work and i still want to be the first customer!!!!

Interesting. I thought I read that the pressure ratio with the current 20G-9-5 wasnt very high. So I deduced that the turbine housing/wheel combination was a good one. That was my reasoning behind that. So it appears that indeed the turbine housing is choking off the flow of the motor and compressor wheel at the higher boost pressures.

Oh and BTW, I wish I were still "Young" enough to be "Young grasshopper". FYI, I started modding DSM's the same time you did... Back in the days of MDSOG. AL Blaha, and myself were the only NC chapter members at that time. But I think you may have worked on a few hundred more 4G63's than I have.

Anyhow back on topic.

This is a pretty awesome turbo that should be coming available soon. It will be nice to see what times and HP that it can ultimately do. We will see.
