Quiet free flowing exhaust

Hi, I am new here and just got a new Evo IX MR. Love the car. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a quiet free flowing exhaust? I don't like the sound of the loud exhausts everyone has on their Hondas. Would removing the cat and putting a header on make it loud? Thanks

Free flowing and quiet usually don't go together, but many feel the Buschur exhaust does both. Yes, removing the cat will make your car louder and a TP will be much louder. Your muffler selection will be important if you dont want to sound/look like a ricer.

I got the Fubijitsu RM01A and I love it. Very reasonable sound, and makes good power. Not the most power, but thats still worth it for me.

I think you best bet is the Stock exhaust, if you want quiet, the Stock exhuast is like 2.25 or 2.5 inches (correct me if im wrong). But you should hear some other exhausts before you say they're too loud. My freind has a HKS exhaust and its not all that loud.

Most evos Don't Sound ricy with Exhausts, They Sound Realy good.

Just wanted to make sure you know that if you do get a louder exhaust, it won't sound like the exhaust on a Honda. Turbo motors sound different than the "fart can" sound that you get from the Hondas. It may be louder, but it is a better throatier sound.

Buschur + magnaflow sounds great and produces awesome power. Even without a cat it's pretty tame for everday driving. I believe their new bullet muffler is pretty quiet as well.

Even the most loud exhaust still sound good IMHO.

Also....most exhausts are moderately quiet when new but after a few months they get louder.

Keep in mind, when you're not out hunting V8s, some exhaust have silencers used to cork and quiet it up some. The silencers kill HP and make you look like an A$$Clown but they work.

I LOVE my injen and I spent 3 months researching and listening to other exhausts to find one that was quiet... It isn't AS free flowing as it could be, but as long as you're not going crazy then it flows plenty, and it still sounds great at WOT too but its nice and quiet when you need it to be... Don't take my (or anyone elses') word for it though, find someone with it and listen to it, that's what I did. Listen to them all, you never know, maybe you'll find a loud one that you like the sound of (I found one of those for me too).

I was in the same boat and was recommended the Greddy Evo2. The car still sounds like stock cruising around town and really opens up nicely when at WOT. I highly recommend it.

Greddy Evo2 = Perfect. Quiet, perfect fit everytime, quality, and quiet, BUT makes power and is 80mm in diameter. It does taper slightly to mate up to stock cat.

Lancer Evo IX has some good suggestions too.

I am not sure why it isn't flowing as much as it could, but my Injen is quiet as hell, is stock looking, really lets the turbo spool up and makes noticably more power in high rpms, and I highly recommend it. Dunno if it fits IX's but it fits my VIII no problem.

I have heard that the Tanabe Medallion is nice and quiet while still making good hp.

I on the other hand didn't care about sound and got the Concept G Blue.

It is not quiet at all at WOT. It will scare the **** out of the V8 guys.
