One tooth on the cam is 7.5 degrees. I have seen cars drive to my shop with cams gears 4 teeth off from correct. Reset cam timing and away they go happy.

You cannot have a car 30* off timing and not contact pistons to valves.

thats what I'm sayin. I know people whos cars wouldn't run with 1 tooth off. $ teeth off the exhaust sure but 30 degrees off the intake side seems impossible.

it'll be nice to know my butt is well calibrated also
I was going to print the graphs but the differences were very un noticable for what I was doing. I wanted to get some more low end and spool. So if I made it to 5k with no difference we just stopped the pull. If I were to show the graphs it would be 1 really thick spool line and 1 single spool like about 150 rps behind it. We were just trying to figure out where to go to get the right results. As is turned out, we just went back to 0/0 for them.

I have seen it twice on dsm cars. People change their own timing belt and dont know how to set the tensioner correctly. The belt jumps on the exhaust side but not the intake. I have seen the belt off 4 teeth on the exhaust side, one tooth intake on two cars without hurting the valves. When you advance the exhaust cam you only increase piston/valve clearance. Advancing intake decreases clearance. Retarding intake increases clearance. Retarding exhaust decreases clearance. When belt is loose it is more likely to jump over exhaust cam since that is the side where auto tensioner is. When belt walks over ex cam you are advancing the cam. On an evo the opposite would happen. The belt would jump more on the intake cam. Jumping two teeth on intake would bent valves.
