A harness is expensive if you have to buy one, though you can do it another, cheaper way..

Not to mention u can always find a motor and ecu, but not always the harness

to be honest with you I would just spend the money of modifying the evo 8 not really worth the money to upgrade to that engine better yet get a long block from buschur or ams or slowboy or from whoever if you going to change the engine. So spend whatever on exhaust/intake/cams/intercooler/clutch and tune and be happier then just spending all that on just a little upgrade!-JOEYD

it not just a little upgrade if im not mistaken the mivec head flow way better that the evo 8 head and to make the same power as the mivec you will have to get cams a $4-700 investment and a decently ported head and by my calculations there not too many companys doing that for less than $2200 and if you find a low mileage motor you can get the better flowing turbo that they come with also a $600 used item so i really dont think doing this swap would be a bad idea

It went very well. The car fired right up with no CEL's and ran great after I figured out the immobilizer deal. ( just disabled it, a few others have done/had to do the same..)

awesome, thanks alot for the help....

and the main reason im doing the motor swap is cuz i really want an evo9, cuz i like the motor/mivec, but i like the body style and 5speed transmission from the 2003 evo8. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, the evo9's around here are 29,000 at least, i found this evo8 for only 22,000, so its as close as i'll get to awd turbo'd lancer lol

Thumbs up

The purpose of the motor swap was actually because it was a track car the was limited to stock form...only allowed oem spec parts. He was allowed to do a mufflerless cat back, a drop in filter, and tuning + running 100 octane.

This car was Bill Z's Swisher Sweets T5 class race car, won ever race he entered in his class for the season of 07 acrossed the country. Damn good driver also helps out a touch.

I belive he is now into racing a Pontiac Solstice in the same class.

Nobody seems to mention it but to do this swap you also need to locate an upper alternator mount as the Evo8 mount isn't compatitble. Peanuts, but it's still something.

Ive been somewhat contemplating doing this only because I destroyed my cylinder head, I have the complete engine, drivetrain, subframe, and now most of the wiring harness, off the car.
