I was having a really hard time getting into some of my gears too. I bought some Buschur Racing shifter bushings and my car shifts great on. Buschur is selling them on here for $24.99 shipped.

There is nothing to adjust. The cables do not have threaded linkages like they use to have on the DSM's in the past. If you are having a hard time getting into 2nd gear, this is more indicative of a synchronizer problem inside the transmission. Check the transmission fluid level and maybe try switching to Pennzoil synchromesh.

i doubt its the fluid. If its only second gear then i would think syncro also.

but if it would be the syncro then it would grind when going in check if you have air in your clutch system first!

The 6 speeds do allow a adjustments in the cable system. There's clips never the shift lever selector and the clips can slide up and down, that's how it is adjusted.

Make sure there is nothing on the cables or the Armature on the tranny. My car was hard to shift into gear till i noticed that a hose got pushed down on the armature...kinda blocking the shifting action. The New UICP i installed lowered this pipe just enough to cause this...a simple hose trim fixed the issue.

Bringing this thread back from the dead... Has anyone had any luck improving shifting of the 6-speed by adjusting the shifter cables? So much discussion about notchy shifting, but no posts about trying to adjust the shifter cables?

The adjustment is described in the FSM. Looks straightforward, but too busy to try it right now. Perhaps over the T-Day holiday I'll try it.
