Oil where it shouldn't be (PICS)
Doing some work last night (TBA) and saw this. My instinct tells me this may be a result of headstud install (which would bother me since I paid a reputable shop). Am I right? If I am, can retorquing them solve the issue? Just in case anyone asks nothing is coming from the valve cover.

I dont think blow-by would be that bad... Did you check to see how much oil you might have lost? If it is the headstuds take it back to the shop and have them order you new headstuds and re-do it. You cant just re torque the headstuds. They are designed to strech once you install them. You'll have to get new ones.

Blow by is when the piston rings are washing out and oil gets past them and makes it to the combustion chamber...Like when you have a catch can hooked up to your crank case breather and it fills up with oil....That is normal crank case pressure....but if it makes it to the exhaust mani, that is bad lol
. It was the head stud Install.

After the initial headstud install did you heat cycle the engine and then re-torque again to 85 ft.lb?
This is a important step as I've noticed the torque setting can loosen a little after a heat cycle.
If its not too late you might try popping the valve cover and re-torque.

Hmmmm. No consumption as I can tell. Just changed the oil yesterday, so I'll monitor the level. There was oil in the intake right in front of the turbo. Very little smidge. Blades were dry. I do have a catch can and it was bone dry when I checked it (the clear lines a filmed over and that's it). Some people are saying "yes" to headstuds while others are saying "no".
