Oh and Syncromesh in the tranny is a definate upgrade shifts way nicer I swear by the stuff as does alot of the members on this site. Shep and TRE both recomend this and BG Syncroshift in the tranny exclusively. The syncromesh is cheaper but you have to change it out a little sooner
I just did some reading on "whining noise" and it seems like it is the TC. Now it just started making the noise last week, its not horribly loud like some have described but it is def noticible in 5th gear at cruise. Should i be able to make i though the winter without sending it off to Shep? Also if i do get it rebuilt by Shep, should i have to worry about this happening again or will it basically be indestructible? I mean i dont drop the clutch when i launch, i shift kind of hard but no power shifting or anything. No idea why the TC would be going, i kno people that beat on their car a lot worse than me and no TC problems

Yep sounds like a TC. Only Mitsu fluid for the TC.

And I would not use Pennzoil - it will work, but its not that great, and you'll have to change it often (like every 5k). Search BG I or BG II for trans fluid. BR Racing has BG II for 11 a qt, takes 3 - so $33.

Well first i am going to change the fluids in the TC, trans and the diffs. Prob BG II in the trans and Diaqueen in the diffs and TC and see how that goes. Im not going to be beating on my car over the winter months, i just hope nothing goes on me before the spring. Do our trannys usually go also or is it the TC that is the weak point after a clutch upgrade?

I can change my tranny fluid 3 times with Syncromesh for what it will cost me to change it once with Syncrshift. (Parts Account Rocks ***). Thas one of the main reasons plus it feels the same in there BG lasts a little longer thats all

Pennzoil - about 6 a qt - so $18 for 3. Lasts 5k. Maybe 1-2 track days.

BG II - $33. Lasts about 15k normal use or 4-5 track days.

But normal use-wise that Pennzoil will cost you $54 for 15k v. $33 for BG. But hey, its your car and money.

Im not to worried about weather i used Pennzoil or BG in the trans, i know either will do fine just have to change the Pennzoil more often but its cheaper. The TC situation is whats got me worried. I just dropped about 3500-4k into my car between parts, labor and tuning and now this. I havent saved a dollar in the past 3 months lol. Owning an evo that you like to race once in a while and go out to the bar 5 nights a week keep your pockets pretty empty lol

whats wrong with redline in the Tcase? i went to southcoast mitsubishi and the guy over there recommended a thicker weight redline oil in the tcase over the stock fluid and stock fluid in everything else unless i request BG for the tranny.... this was at a mitsu dealership. been driving it since saturday and it seems fine to me
