loud whining coming from front of car???
Recently ive put a bit more HP to the wheels and raced/launched the car a few times. After cutting a few 1.65 60ft’s at the track and on the street I noticed I have this pretty loud whine coming from the front end of the car only in 4th or 5th gear while cruising. The sound comes in between about 2800-3800rpm’s and 15in/vac to 0psi. When in decel or boost I don’t hear the noise or in lower gears like 1st 2nd or 3rd. Im just wondering where this noise might be coming from. TC? Clutch? Front diff.? I notice nothing wrong with the car at all, just that damn loud whine after I raced it. I hope nothing is on its way out, especially a TC.

I doubt its blown, like I said the car is driving fine and the sound only comes in at certain gears, rpm and throttle position. Its like a humming/whining, I guess that’s the best way to describe it. I raced last night and launched the car twice and noticed it got worse…the first time I noticed it was after the evo/sti shootout at etown this past weekend.

The whine at cruise is your TC. You can try changing your fluids. Only use Diaqueen dont listen to anyone there is no reason to put anything else in you TC or rear diff.
Oh and Syncromesh in the tranny is a definate upgrade shifts way nicer I swear by the stuff as does alot of the members on this site. Shep and TRE both recomend this and BG Syncroshift in the tranny exclusively. The syncromesh is cheaper but you have to change it out a little sooner
