The turbo rating I quoted was incorrect. 46 lb/min is what the turbo flows.

For reference, what does a 50 trim flow? Is it about the same?

I think 50 trim flows 49-50lbs a minute, hence the name.

The name of the 50 trim is because of the ratio of the exducer to the inducer of the compressor wheel. It has nothing to do with it's airflow rating.

At a pressure ratio of 2.0, the T04E 50 trim is rated at 44 lbs/min. At higher boost levels the compressor maps shows up to about 48 lbs/min.

So basically, this new turbo is going to flow as much air as my 50 trim?

I was able to get 49 lbs/min out of a 50 trim typically, but hit 50 lbs on a cold night. If this turbo also flows 49 lbs/min, it is unlikely to be at any measureable dissadvantage to the 50 trim.

I've seen flow numbers from 47-49 lbs/min. The power and performance results lead me to believe it will come out closer to the 49. I really should just buy one of these things and test it (DSMlink). Anyone willing to buy it back from me at a slight discount if I decide I still need to go bigger?

I've looked through all the pages and havn't seen a comparison or even mention of ATP's turbo that compares to a bolt-on 50 trim, for 300 bucks more would you gain anything? hp wise and is the spool relativly the same on both the ATP and green ?
the ATP has shown 485 on pump+meth, How does the LT compare to that . . . unless you have this or have dyno-ed this I guess you can't answere . . . buschur specific 450whp on what race fuel?

I could get past page 14, I smoked two cigarettes and was still all wound up. This is some crazy debate. David is the man, back off and show some respect. He's doing the best he can.

I'm with honda guy on the point below, a variable geomitry turbo would be a dream come true. I'll be holding my breath too...

LOL my Evo with the BR stage 1 is faster than 99% of cars. The stock Evo is faster than 95% of cars. I think anything as fast as what you drive is in the 99.99999% range.

I know what you mean though. Even time we ride in my buddy's '03 Civic SI, I see something worth smoking and wish I took my car. That's just the way it goes.

You do the shortblock for durability not power.

The datalogs I have for the turbo are in milivolts that have to be converted to lbs/min. The laboratory test meter we did the flow testing with, I no longer have, it is at FP now. I do not have the charts either. FP just sent me an IM saying on his very very mildly modified EVO he just say 46 lbs/min.
Thats pretty impressive considering that fact a maxed out 50 trim in a T04E cover is only 49 lbs

Mid 10's have been on first time out on two different cars. Yes both were built and both had awesome drivers.

25g they would have to have a new compressor wheel made for the reverse rotation plus a different cover

Sorry if this is already posted (I didn't feel like going through the whole thread) but FP has some info on a mildly modded 9:
