As far as the 20GLT yes it might be a great upgrade for some people. But from the testing Dave did with the customer car it did not convince me. Overall he made 40whp 40ftlbs more. This is with the addition of 20GLT coming from the old 20G-5-9, C16, and AEM. And about 8whp/2ftlbs on stock ecu w/20GLT 31psi C16 & Alky. That is a lot of money for 40whp/ftlbs, IMO.

AEM- $1600-2400
20GLT- $1700
Evo9 Install Kit- $270
Tuning- $400

Total- $3970-$4770

Proven......

I'd stick with the Buschur GT30 or FP3065.

So who are the people that will be buying this turbo? Poeple that already have a 20g-5-9 or people that have a stock turbo. I'd say 40/40 is a pretty big improvement over an already powerful turbo. What would the dyno gains have been if that same car started with a stock 03 or 04 turbo? 100/100?

BBYBRUNO,

Actually your input this time is greatly appreciated BUT I think we should put this into check more. This guy, Bobby, had a car that was very similar to how yours is modified. So let's take YOUR car for example:

"Buschur Mustang Dyno
290whp/288wtq 94pump
310whp/316wtq C16
12.51@110.0 "

Above is your signature. Your car made 310 whp/316 ft lbs on our dyno on C16. As long as you don't have a cat on your car and you have a set of cams in it then I am confident that I could take your car to very close the same level as Bobby's. Let's say I only get to 400 whp and 390 ft lbs. In your case you'd be spending close to the amounts you have listed above in your post BUT going from your stock turbo to this set up would net you 90 whp and 74 ft lbs of torque.

I will quote the pricing of what it actually costs rather than your estimate

AEM EMS from us $2400, this is complete, wide band, 5 bar, temp sensor etc.
Install kit if it is an EVO8 or 9 we can do it for $135 actually. It just requires bending the oil/water lines a little.
20GLT $1700
Tuning at most would be $300.

Total $4535.

That's $50 per horsepower. Not a bargain but certainly not a rip off by any means.

Take into consideration that the easiest horsepower you can make is our Stage 1 kit on an EVO. This is $1350 and you will gain around 65 whp, now that is a bargain and about $20 per horsepower. As we all know the more power you make the more it costs to do it.

I can gaurantee you if my RS could gain more HP for $50 per horsepower and not end up with being some undrivable piece of crap with a HUGE laggy turbo on it then I'd be all over spending another $5,000 on it right now.

Going from an Evo8 16g 9.8, to a Evo9 20GLT 10.5 would be great i'm not arguing with that.

The car that Dave put the AEM and 20g LT on is mine.

Dave and I went for a test ride for him to ensure that everything was operating up to spec. We nailed it in first and second and Dave commented that my clutch is slipping (Exedy Twin). I replied with... "No Dave, that's wheelspin." The car was breaking them loose in first and some of second!

After that, I only drove it home from BR to the garage where it spends its winters as the weather was getting crappy. (about 40 minutes) The new power was VERY noticeable.

The power delivery felt very linear as compared to an almost violent torque spike of the 20g-9-5. It also spools to 20psi. by 3400 RPM. It really pulls hard past 6000 RPM now.

If anyone wants to know anything else that I may have left out feel free to post up or PM me.

Ok heres a question for you guys - would u guys jump from a stage 2 to a 4 with the LT on a car with 70K on it? (I drive alot I know) If yea, what would you recommend as a "freshen up" things to go along with it. Basically I wanna keep this car for a long time and wanna make sure the extra power isn't going to kill the motor in the long run. Any thoughts??
