We all see the obvious, Zeus. I said I can't understand why people keep asking for something that just doesn't make much sense. Of course, we'd all love to run pump gas and make huge power. What I said is I don't understand why people would spend a lot of money on a big turbo only to not use half of its potential. Yes, the vast majority keep asking for pump gas numbers, but the vast majority of those asking never really are going to get a big turbo, because they all want the Magical Pump Gas Monster Turbo That Loses No Spool Vs Stock, but it's not feasible.

Spool up, on my car and Curt's, which both are completely built. We made 20 psi at 3500 rpm.

No conversion of the existing 20g-9-5's as of yet. We will do them but as of now I am being told "no".

CFM rating, off the top of my head I believe the turbo flowed 38 lbs/mn when we tested it.

Inlet is the same stock EVO9 compressor cover.

The 10.5 housing is modified to fit the larger turbine wheel. It fits with all available 02 housings, including stock.

Compressor side is stock EVO9 modified to fit the new wheel, internally.

Compressor wheel is the same 5 bladed wheel we have been using in our 20g-9-5's.

No, the turbo is not comparable to the old TD06 20g's.

It never ends does it?

Get this through to some of your brains. The 20g-9-5 turbo we have offered was tested on my car, which has everything we offer on it. The car ran 11.11 at 124 mph. Another customer of ours that just has a basic Stage 4 set up, running pump gas and alky ran 11.2 at 124 mph. This was stock engine, stock head, reflash etc.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COMPLETELY BUILT ENGINE AND A STOCK ONE IS MINIMAL AS IN NO GAINS TO SPEAK OF.

I don't know how many times I have to type the same thing to come back to read the same "complaints and excuses". It is very annoying.

We will test on pump gas. We will test on more stock EVO's. We do not own stock EVO's here, there are 8 EVO's owned here and everyone of them is built, everyone has an AEM EMS on it. I am not converting a car over to "stock" to do a test. It is stupid, rediculous and not going to happen.

The pump gas results are going to be lower numbers and slower ET's. The less mods you have the slower your car is generally going to be. IF you have a bunch of crap on your car that you bought for the lowest prices it is going to make less power too. No turbo is going to fix a load of **** for parts.

I will post dyno graphs from this turbo as results come in from it. Testing on cars that don't exist here though is impossible. Testing on California 91 from us is impossible. Testing with ebay'd knock off, homebuilt parts is impossible for us.

Sorry for the rant. I grow tired of this stuff from time to time.

If you need a car you can have mine for a weekend. I would be more than willing.

Is your meter pegged yet? Sounds like it

The backpressure is less with this turbo. So will an upgraded actuator still be needed?

Don't be so pompus... my post was directed in general as to all the various people posting when this topic comes up. Historically, it always goes in this direction, with the same general responses from both sides of an argument. There really is not even a valid argument from either camp as it will be used under both circumstances. Average Joe weekend racer who will use the turbo for both purposes will eventually post the information EVERYONE wants.

The turbo is a bolts on to any EVO7, 8 or 9's manifold, 02 housing. If you are converting from an EVO8 style turbo to this you will either have to bend your water/oil lines or buy new EVO9 lines, which we have. You will need a new lower i/c pipe to run this turbo on an EVO 8.

Zeus,

I see your points on both sides. The pump gas numbers. You can make big numbers on pump gas, I don't expect everyone to run race/alky. It is just a fact that we do and that is how our testing usually goes. The fact is if you make big pump gas numbers it is going to be with a BIG turbo and the low end/midrange of that BIG turbo is going to get its *** kicked by a smaller turbo, everytime. So you have an RPM range of 5500+ to whatever your redline is that the larger turbo is making more power than the stock turbo.

This turbo is small enough that it is going to still make stellar pump gas numbers and do it at low and mid range where it is fun to drive. The larger turbine wheel is going to allow it to make larger numbers up top too, just like a BIG turbo will do.

I just do not have a car to do this type of testing on. Nobody here owns a "stock" EVO or one even close to stock for that matter.

I'll use anyone's car for testing, buy the turbo, bring the car here and we will tune it. I don't need to do any hand outs though as all this testing will come in time as the turbos are installed on every imaginable combination.

Really, I'm sure he gets tired as hell of the constant bombardment. Anyone would.

David, I hope you don't see this as a kick in the *****... My point was more to all the "other" people arguing about the pump/OE ECU thing. Every time there is a new turbo out, somewhere there is a thread and the the pissing match starts.

My intent was to point out the obvious to those who are going to argue about it.

If it were me, I'd not be investing the time to convert my own car either... common sense would dictate posting a customer's numbers as things progressed along.

I wasn't being pompous - I was being realistic. Yes, someone will do that eventually, and we'll likely find that the majority of the gains are when running big boost all the time, whereas running pump gas boost is just ho-hum in terms of $/hp. If not, then we will have found the aforementioned Magical Turbo. I'd love for this to be the one.

David, what do you recommend for the LICP? I currently have your Deluxe FMIC. Are we going to have to have something custom fabricated or are you offering solutions?

Really looking forward to results but I realize its going to take alittle time, unlike some other people on here

It's simple. People want a turbo that makes good power on pump gas. I don't have any interest in running race gas or bragging that my car makes such and such power on race gas when I don't run it.

I and I'm sure alot more people want a turbo that makes good power and doens't take that much away from the responsivness of the stock turbo.

People have power goals. I could have a power goal of 400whp on pump gas and if this turbo would or could do it then that is what people wants. I don't want to have to rely on race gas of meth injection to make my numbers everyday.

BTW.......subscribed.

Thanks david for finally giving info on this turbo i saw this being talked about on the new products section on your site and have been waiting for info. I will be picking one of these up from you in early spring. At now i know not to waste money on a 10.5 hotside for my stock turbo because this one will have it already. I honestly dont understand why people would wanna run this turbo on a mostly stock setup when you can reach almost 400whp on the stocker with all the bolt ons. sometimes i think people jump ahead of themselves

but anyway ill be using alky with pretty much all mods except built motor and head
